Component Engineer (Temporary Contract)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Component engineer to source and select alternates for hard to find electrical components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source hard to find electronics on the market
  • Will interpret component data sheets and evaluate components as suitable alternates or replacements in a given design. Analyze the form–fit–functionality changes in the component
  • Contact component suppliers and manufacturers to request quotes and lead times
  • Interface heavily on industry and manufacturer’s websites to find suitable components
  • Suitability of components will be carefully and clearly summarized for final approval by the design engineer
  • Will initially maintain BOMs for 10+ assemblies and 600 parts which will be integrated to a database of 4k+ parts across various BOMs
  • Candidate must be highly accurate with documentation and have meticulous attention to details

Qualifications

  • Outstanding research and highly proficient internet search skills
  • Familiarity with various distribution channels as well as the global broker market
  • Ability to read schematics and will know the basic function of its components
  • Proficient in MS Office Excel and Word
  • Sufficient experience and knowledge of PCBA’s and electronic components to know the right questions to ask of an electrical design engineer when making part selections
  • Experience finding appropriate parts when given a list of parameters

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years electrical component sourcing
  • Design background bonus
