Job Description
We are looking for a talented and hard-working individual with a minimum of five years experience in the deregulated electric industry to support the electricity market analysis consulting and daily market operations work of Customized Energy Solutions. This position will be largely focused on assisting with the management of Customized Energy Solutions’ wholesale market generation and load clients, including, settlement, scheduling, and other back-office processes, primarily focusing on activity in the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) and secondary the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) markets. In order to support these functions, the candidate will need to become familiar with operational processes required to support our client’s business. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Being detail oriented and a person of integrity are essential qualities, as is an ability to handle new tasks and manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
Examples of specific responsibilities include:
- Coordination of scheduling activities & reporting for wholesale generation and load clients
- Assisting clients with/and performing the registration and testing of resources and Market Participants into the SPP market. This includes coordinating with other CES teams (i.e. IT, SCADA, Networking, finance) to support resource start-up.
- Participate in market analysis projects focused on the SPP market, but possibly involving other areas of the deregulated energy markets.
- Develop proposals for projects and communicate with clients or potential clients to revise, refine, and / or adapt proposals to client needs.
- Development of settlement reports, monitoring tools, and other methods of assisting wholesale generation or load clients in maximizing efficiency in the electric markets.
- Perform business development activities to expand CES’s client base and product offerings.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of the RTO/ISO wholesale markets, specifically focusing on the SPP market
- A Bachelors Degree or equivalent
- Experience in performing project research and/or consulting services
- Experience with assets and load participating in the SPP market
- Strong analytical reasoning skills
- Understanding of generation project financial modeling
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to be self directed as well as work well with others
- Analytical skill set with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of SPP market rules and processes required to register and manage resources in the markets
- Database software skills, specifically Microsoft SQL experience
- Advanced education
