Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Python developer with a strong foundation in mathematical optimisation to join the Forecasting & Optimisation division of the CoMETS Suite — CES's flagship SaaS platform for energy asset revenue analysis. You will work on building and maintaining optimisation models and data pipelines that drive investment decisions in US wholesale electricity markets. Knowledge of the energy industry is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research/Learn new and emerging technologies in the energy domain (concentrating on specific areas, e.g. various energy systems, transmission developments, energy market rules, etc.)
  • Develop, test, and maintain Python-based optimisation models simulating the behaviour and revenue potential of energy assets in wholesale electricity markets
  • Design, develop, review, re-factor, and maintain software with quality and performance in mind
  • Develop the proposed feature/s while maintaining high quality coding standards
  • Conduct technical testing to resolve existing or introduced problems
  • Maintain technical documentation such as incremental design specifications and user manuals
  • Actively use AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation workflows

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field
  • Expert level proficiency in Python — clean, well-structured, production-quality code
  • Solid experience with mathematical optimisation — Pyomo, GurobiPy, or any LP/MIP solver
  • Hands-on experience building, training, and deploying machine learning models • Exposure to AWS: cloud-based compute, storage, or serverless services
  • Comfortable using AI-powered developer tools — GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude-Code, or equivalent — to boost productivity
  • Familiarity with Git, Docker, and standard software development practices
  • Preferred- Knowledge of electricity markets, energy assets (BESS, Solar, Wind), or power systems
