Job Description

Customized Energy Solutions is looking for a Transaction Management Analyst with strong SQL skills to join its Retail Services team. Additionally, experience in EDI/X12 transactions is preferred, but not required.  In this role the successful candidate will support the Company’s Retail Energy practice by providing support to the retail operations group in EDI/X12 transaction management, identifying anomalies in transactional data and quality, and client management. This position will suit a candidate comfortable working under deadlines and with competing priorities. Scope of work will include client service desk tasks for account updates, configuration changes for EDI Billing, and quality assurance checks for complex account updates. The successful candidate will be a high energy self-starter, a positive team player, possess strong analytical skills, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Being detail oriented and a person of integrity are essential qualities, as is an ability to handle new tasks and manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Please note that this is a hybrid position that requires inoffice and remote work.

Representative Duties: 

  • Triage issues stemming from account and transaction anomalies in the CES Blue system 
  • Support Client service desk tickets with timely responsiveness and resolution execution 
  • Backend validation for data completeness/correctness and performance  
  • Perform quality audits on a regular cadence  
  • Perform exception management activities   
  • Assist with QA for SLAs and accountability to clients in partnership with technical leads and operations  
  • Support internal process automation efforts across Retail Market Services functions through discovery, documentation, and representation of business requirements and functional specifications within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)  
  • Review and analyze system specifications and business requirements to improve the procedure  
  • Use quantitative and analytical skill to provide support for software and services daily billing and EDI operations in the PJM, ISO-NE, NYISO, MISO, CAISO regional transmission organization jurisdictions, including quality audits and controls and exception management 
  • Utilize Retail Energy Market knowledge and understanding of client business processes to work with operational and technical team to build additional validation and automation into the billing process 
  • Use professional experience to assist with completion of ad hoc projects as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable subject matter demonstrating required quantitative and professional skill sets  
  • Experience in utility or electricity markets, preferred, or four or more years (4+ years) of relevant experience 
  • Relevant graduate degree or advanced industry experience a plus  
  • Excellent analytic processing skills and experience with Excel and SQL preferred. The ability to navigate efficiently and effectively in Excel is mandatory. 
  • Strong SQL skills is desired. Experience writing queries in SQL, executing, adjusting the queries, and analyzing data.  
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems and make quick, fact-based decisions  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven, self-managed environment  
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others at all levels of the organization  
  • Demonstrated ability to think “outside the box” by developing and implementing improvements to processes and tools
