Job Description

CES’s Emerging Technologies team includes technology, market, and policy experts with a deep understanding of energy storage technologies. Our team understands the complex rules and business practices of the North American RTO/ISO markets, states, and utilities as they apply to energy storage resources and translates them into insight for our clients.

CES's Emerging Technologies consulting services include a wide range of products, including financial analysis, strategic consulting, and technology due diligence, to help our clients understand the evolving market opportunities and the value proposition of new technologies. CES’s practical experience with the day-to-day operations of over 200 MWs of energy storage facilities in competitive markets provides our team with real-life experience that sets our consulting services apart from other providers.

The candidate will contribute to developing core capabilities of CES in the area of price forecasting and demand forecasting using machine learning models as well as improving the processes for end-to-end development and deployment of these models. Qualified candidates for this position will be able to work independently and collaboratively and will possess strong communication and analytical skills. This is a full-time position. Must be able to work from 1:00 to 9:00 pm to interface with US clients and colleagues.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Develop forecasting models: Developing models to forecast prices of multiple electricity market products in ISO's will be the major task for the candidate. Demand forecasting models to support analytical decision making for assets participating in the demand response programs.
  • Develop processes for end-to-end development and deployment of models: Improve processes for development, deployment and scalability of machine learning models.
  • Provide analytical support to other teams in CES: CES has teams operating in multiple areas of the electricity market mainly the wholesale and the retail market. Candidate is supposed to understand business problems from these teams and suggest ways to improve accuracy/efficiency of the processes/approaches used by these teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in developing price/demand forecasting models in the electricity domain with a leading SaaS/ Energy Software firm.
  • Relevant college degree or equivalent experience required
  • Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms and related fundamental concepts is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in Python programming especially in libraries related to machine learning.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL is required.
  • Knowledge of energy storage concepts including: grid level storage, behind the meter storage, energy storage and battery technology, renewable energy pairing, and energy storage dispatch modeling preferred.
  • Must be able to work from 1:00 to 9:00 pm to interface with US clients and colleagues.
  • Strong writing skills required along with experience writing under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skills required
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively required
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic required!

Preferred

  • Knowledge of RTO/ISO markets
  • Business development orientation

Additional Information

This is a full time position with a six month of probationary period. In this capacity the candidate will be paid a fairly competitive salary with industry standards.
