Job Description
The Senior Manager Financial Crime Strategy, Governance, Response & Reporting (6-month MTC) is accountable for shaping and executing Cuscal’s enterprise approach to financial crime risk management across strategy, governance, intelligence, response and external reporting. The role provides clear thought leadership on emerging fraud, scam, money laundering and terrorist financing risks, translating intelligence insights, evolving typologies, regulatory expectations and industry developments into coherent strategies, governance frameworks and targeted mitigation actions.
The role leads a team of financial crime specialists responsible for developing and curating high‑quality financial crime intelligence, identifying systemic gaps and vulnerabilities across products and services, and ensuring insights are proactively leveraged to influence detection, response and control uplift. The role is also responsible for monitoring regulatory and market developments, benchmarking Cuscal practices against industry best practice, and advising on required actions to maintain compliance and uplift capability. Through clear, accurate and actionable reporting to regulators, industry bodies and internal forums, the role ensures senior stakeholders are well informed and that insights are effectively leveraged to disrupt financial crime activity.
Our people are key to protecting Cuscal and its clients against emerging threats. As a people leader, this role will foster a positive team culture with this in mind, maintaining a strong focus on developing and coaching team members to achieve high-performance outcomes.
- Lead the development and execution of Cuscal’s financial crime strategy, ensuring a coordinated, intelligence‑led approach to fraud, scam and broader financial crime prevention, detection and response.
- Provide thought leadership and strategic direction for the Financial Crime Analytics & Advisory team, including setting priorities, planning the team roadmap, and identifying opportunities to strengthen Cuscal’s financial crime risk management approach.
- Determine Cuscal’s response to material fraud and scam risks and activities, including overseeing complex, sensitive or high‑risk matters requiring “need‑to‑know” handling.
- Establish and promote best‑practice financial crime intelligence and analytics capabilities, leveraging open‑source intelligence, industry data and internal insights to proactively identify emerging threats and inform strategic decision‑making.
- Monitor emerging fraud and financial crime trends, typologies, regulatory developments and industry practices, and translate these insights into actionable advice, frameworks and capability uplift initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement across financial crime strategy, governance and response activities, with a focus on simplification, optimisation and automation.
- Lead and support complex investigations, working closely with external parties including law enforcement, regulators, government agencies and industry bodies as required.
- Coordinate and deliver clear, accurate and actionable reporting and insights to senior management, regulators and industry stakeholders to support informed decision‑making and effective fraud and scam disruption.
