We are looking for a Compliance Manager to join our Group Risk & Compliance team!
What is this role about?
The Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the Compliance Risk Management Processes across the bank. This includes developing, maintaining, and enhancing frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks. The role also involves monitoring compliance risks, ensuring adherence to legal, licencing, regulatory and industry scheme requirements, and supporting business units in managing their compliance responsibilities. By fostering a culture of compliance, the Manager of Compliance helps safeguard the bank against regulatory breaches and reputational risks.
The responsibilities in this role include but are not limited to the following:
- Act as a Compliance SME, providing second-line oversight on Compliance risks across the compliance lifecycle.
- Identify and map compliance risks and key controls to obligations, ensuring they align with the bank’s Risk Taxonomy and overall risk management framework.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including business units, Risk Owners, and senior management, to embed compliance requirements into business processes, policies, and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and continuously enhance Compliance Risk Management frameworks to ensure the bank effectively identifies, assesses, and mitigates compliance risks.
- Oversee the identification, documentation, and interpretation of licensing, regulatory, legal, and industry scheme obligations, ensuring alignment with the bank’s operations and compliance framework.
- Proactively monitor and assess emerging regulatory, legal, and industry trends, providing insights on potential impacts and recommending appropriate actions.
- Work closely with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to ensure the bank adheres to relevant Australian regulatory requirement and payment industry scheme requirements.

What can you bring?
Essential:
- 5 years + of experience in compliance management within the finance and banking industry
- Strong knowledge and experience in Australian regulatory, legal, payment scheme, and contractual obligations.
- Skilled in interpreting and analysing regulatory requirements and translating them into actionable obligations.
- Strong communication skills for documenting and presenting obligations-related updates and horizon scanning insights.
- Demonstrated experience in compliance roles in the financial services sector, including the design and implementation of effective compliance management frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in building compliance maturity and capability across the first and second lines of defence and experience/exposure to better industry practice
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to build effective workplace relationships.
Although not required, any experience or knowledge in the following would be highly desirable:
- Experience within retail banking or payments
