Job Title: Senior Employee Relations (ER) Advisor

Job Purpose
This is a varied and challenging role which primarily will be supporting our clients that have purchased our HR Advisory service, reporting into the Head of Employee Relations. As such we are looking for an extremely organised, accurate and articulate person who has previous experience of advising line managers with a broad range of employee relations issues. This is a Hybrid role with a combination of home/office working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for HR queries via our telephone helpline and inboxes
  • Supporting our clients on all areas of the Employee Lifecycle
  • Dealing with difficult cases, TUPE and Redundancies 
  • Advise on employee relations matters, guiding line managers through agreed processes and procedures, or in line with statutory requirements, to conclusion
  • Advising on a range of employee relations cases such as absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance procedures, including complex cases
  • Providing proactive guidance to Line Managers, such as providing investigation questions where necessary and reviewing any documentation produced by Line Managers during cases
  • To provide support in drafting letters across the lifecycle of the case, tailoring where necessary dependant on the individual circumstances
  • To establish and maintain excellent relationships with new and existing clients
  • Providing advice and playing a major role in work reviews and change processes
  • Writing, reviewing and assisting in implementing company policies and procedures
  • Uploading and updating the cases on our case management system, ensuring records are an up to date and accurate reflection of the case
  • Visit client sites where required, upholding the excellent reputation of the HR Advisory service and the expertise it provides
  • Keeping up-to-date with employment and case law at all times and practically applying your knowledge and sharing it with the team
  • Any other duties that may be identified from time to time


Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven work experience as an HR Advisor, HR Consultant or similar role
  • Holds CIPD Level 5 or above, or significantly way though the qualification
  • Experience of working within a busy HR office environment
  • Experience prioritising a high case load
  • In depth knowledge of statutory requirements as well as best practice HR and the ability to apply your knowledge to any given situation
  • Expertise in advising senior members of staff
  • Knowledge of employment legislation
  • Ability to design clear and fair company policies
  • Experience of drafting HR documents within all areas of the employee lifecycle
  • Excellent literacy skills
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and technically able
