Job Description

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Curtze Food Service, a 6th generation family-owned company with 144 years in business, is seeking a highly motivated Preventative Maintenance Specialist to work out of the Erie, PA location.

Job Summary - An employee in this position works in conjunction with or under the supervision of a Facility Manager performing a variety of skilled work in the operation, repair, and maintenance of equipment, buildings, grounds, and other related work as required. An employee operates, maintains, and repairs equipment including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, air-conditioning, refrigeration, as well as maintains a working knowledge of all other skill areas.

Principal Duties: Providing facility/building maintenance services to facilities using knowledge and skills in the following:

  • plumbing
  • electrical
  • welding
  • painting
  • construction
  • hand tools
  • power tools

Knowledge:

  • Exhibits considerable knowledge of the system, theory, and procedures for repair and maintenance in one of the following areas: electrical, air conditioning and refrigeration, carpentry, and painting
  • Exhibits considerable knowledge of plumbing systems and for repair and maintenance
  • Exhibits considerable knowledge of procedures, materials, and tools used in building maintenance and construction
  • Exhibits ability to inspect systems and buildings to detect existing or potential problems and devise a course of action
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations as required by the job
  • Ability to maintain records and prepare reports
  • Exhibits considerable knowledge of uniform electrical and building codes
  • Exhibits considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the building and mechanical trades

Physical Requirements:

  • Push/pull up to 60 pounds
  • Crawl into tight spaces located throughout the buildings and grounds
  • Reaching above, at, or below shoulder height
  • Work on ladders, man lifts, and scaffolding
  • Involves power grasping (opening containers, manipulating bolts / valves / switches, lifting large items, working with tools)
  • Use fine motor skills (fine adjustment, small part manipulation, assembling items)
  • Performance of duties will require bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, twisting, lifting, squatting, pushing/pulling, sitting, standing, walking

Education and Experience Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; able to read, write, and speak English fluently, and have a solid working knowledge of general maintenance techniques and minor equipment repair. Mechanical/electrical trade school apprenticeship completion or equivalents preferred.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements: - Electrical – meter reading, residential-style wiring experience, 3- phase and single-phase knowledge - Plumbing – troubleshooting pneumatic equipment, ability to sweat copper pipes and fittings - Basic Carpentry - operating both stationary and portable shop tools, measurement, leveling, painting - Electronics – working with low voltage transformers - Experience with PLC's and HMI's preferred - Experience with vacuum pump systems a plus
