The Site EHS Generalist will lead the manufacturing facility to Current’s best in class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) performance. Plan and direct the daily activities for the plant’s environmental program. The EHS Generalist will exercise independent judgment to promote employee awareness, compliance, and participation in meeting or exceeding plant environmental goals.   This is a significant role requiring strategic thinking and focused execution. The EHS Generalist will have exceptional communication skills, the ability to influence leaders across all functions, and provide proactive leadership of all aspects of EHS for the manufacturing site.

• Conduct EHS inspections, identify issues, (resolve issues where possible) and ensure corrective actions are implemented to eliminate any issues.  Input issues into the audit tracker.  Inspections include Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC), landfill, Hazardous Waste, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Air.
• Conduct all environmental training required for plant employees including hazardous waste, stormwater, Air, and SPCC, and assist with H&S training if needed.
• Conduct all sampling that is required including wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, and any other environmental sampling that is necessary.
• Prepare and assist others in the preparation of shipping papers including papers for scrap, hazardous waste, and hazardous material shipping.
• Gather all necessary environmental data including groundwater-related data and wastewater discharge flow data.
• Interface with employees and management on EHS issues.  Ensure that employee EHS concerns are adequately addressed.
• Interface with governmental officials and assist with governmental inspections. 
• Complete Gensuite regulatory-required self-assessments.
• Serve as Environmental Element Framework owner for assigned elements and assist with H&S elements.
• Operate wastewater and groundwater treatment systems as necessary.
• Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Wastewater Treatment facility and Chemical Process Control Laboratory including supervision of wastewater treatment operators.  Responsible for ensuring facility wastewater discharges are below the facility discharge limits. 
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

 Essential Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance of plant operations with regulations & requirements relating to air, waste, chemical management, waste & storm water, industrial hygiene, health, safety, and employee training.
• Drive accountability with all functions and associates to aggressively reduce accidents and injuries.
• Implement and lead safety committees and programs to increase and/or promote employee involvement & increase safety performance.
• Apply ergonomic principles to improve workstations and minimize injuries.
• Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships
• Reduce workers’ compensation and disability costs.
• Perform associated and other duties as required.
• Lead EHS Management of Change requirements.

• BS or BA in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 2 years experience in leading environmental and safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment
• Must currently hold or have the ability to obtain within 1 year of job acceptance, a Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator Certification. 
• Demonstrated servant leadership style and ability to effectively leverage an empowered workforce.
• Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional team environment.
• Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Current's EHS and government regulations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:                                            

Able to perform manual lifting up to 35 Pounds; able to climb ladders & stairs; operate mobile equipment.

Other Requirements:

Must possess a current motor vehicle license, and must demonstrate the ability to perform technical and chemical analysis of equipment and materials utilizing equipment drawings, schematics, statistical analysis tools, and laboratory equipment.  Computer experience is required (i.e. Microsoft, etc.) or must demonstrate the ability to become proficient.  Demonstrated prior leadership ability is required.

Some travel to other Current sites may be needed. 

Compensation

The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more.  This salary range is 60,000-75,000.
