Job Description
The VP/Director, Controls & Connected Solutions is a new role and will be responsible for developing an effective sales strategy that increases top-line sales growth, helping to define the Controls product roadmap, as well as developing effective go-to-market and specification strategies. The role will work cross-functionally with sales, product management, engineering and customer service to develop and execute the sales strategy. Responsibilities include people and pipeline management enabling the team to adapt and execute quickly to deliver strong commercial results and growth in integrated lighting solutions, services, software, applications and controls.
Role location requirements include living close to an international airport with travel up to 60%.
This role will lead a sales management team.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Define, develop, and implement sales strategy to deliver strong sales results
- Responsible for developing sales forecasts and holding sales management team accountable for meeting/exceeding established goals
- Develop collaborative relationship with Product Management and Marketing to ensure entire product category has similarly focused long-term deliverables ie. Market share, full product portfolio, and focus to appropriate growth markets
- Ensure achievement of targeted sales and performance goals, margin goals, planned market share growth and sales strategy
- Leverage analytical and financial analysis skills to evaluate sales performance
- Responsible for successful commercialization and sales results of new product introductions
- Maintain/report monthly accurate metrics around target accounts, opportunities, risks, and overall performance, and utilize data to drive strategy and business decisions
- Collaborate with marketing leaders and controls marketers to ensure strategy alignment and provide insights for furthering our market reach
- Partner with commercial leaders to ensure a deep understanding of their key customers’ needs and key drivers of value; drive and execute pipeline opportunities to create industry leading controls business
- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application, and articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users
- Leverage your experience and knowledge and provide excellent leadership to build, motivate, educate & activate a high performing team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, MBA preferred
- Minimum 5 years in controls industry; minimum 10 years of leadership experience
- Transformational management and strategic sales management leadership experience within lighting and lighting controls industry
- Demonstrated comprehension of the transformation that is taking place in the industry and in the Controls space
- Strong technical product and energy code competency, specifically in Lighting Controls
- Flexibility, resiliency, and adaptability in the face of rapidly changing environment
- Demonstrated ability to energize sales management teams and effectively balance multiple initiatives within a flat, matrixed structure
- Exceedingly industrious, decisive, transparent, and self-motivated individual to work in a fast-paced environment with limited direction
- Ability to see the linkages between systems and recognize how they need to change and then working closely with cross functional team to develop systems to meet changing needs
- An advocate for strategic change with a demonstrated ability to articulate a clear vision and secure adoption from a cross-functional team
- Proven business leader with strong communication skills, demonstrated inclusive behavior, and strong ability to connect with and influence cross functionally to provide effective leadership
- Customer-focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs
- Exceptional computer Skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills – verbal (phone and personal contact) and written
- Demonstrated ability to effectively present to an audience – internal and external to business
Compensation
The position has a compensation package inclusive of base, bonus (if eligible), benefits, 401k contribution, time off, recognition awards and more. This salary range is 190,000-250,000.
