Head of Product

  • Full-time

Company Description

The Grammy’s. The FedEx Open. The BET Awards. Over 200,000 weddings. These are a few of the events that our customers have Curated. We’ve given small business owners around the globe hundreds of thousands of hours back to their families and businesses by building an ERP for small businesses. And we’d like you to lead our team in building functionality to more deeply help more businesses.

Job Description

What’s the scoop?
Here’s the deal. You’re taking over from a bootstrapped CEO who is extremely data-driven and, yet, you’re going to be implementing some of the first dependable product metrics. Heck, we’re just now hiring our first UX person (well...you’ll probably help).

You’re going to be implementing darn near everything and then hiring people to run those plays. If your core experience is walking into a product organization that has processes and frameworks built out, we’d love to pass your name onto some of our other tech friends.

Your organization will be the glue that ties together all parts of the company. We’re building something that has never been built before in these industries: small business resource planning. You’re going to need to be willing to go down the rabbit hole and see how every piece of these small businesses work together. Right now we’re in floral and catering. But the business problems we’re solving are those that any company has.

Position Mission
Yes, we have a mission for this specific position. The mission for our Head of Product is to build the first Curate product organization - from playbooks to feedback loops to hiring product owners and UX designers to implementing product analytics to market strategies.

What you’ll do:
As our Head of Product, you’ll report to the CEO and will build a team reporting to you. You’ll:

  • Personally take on tasks of product owners to learn our systems and build out those into more mature processes (and then hire people to do them);
  • Lead cross-functional teams of researchers, designers and engineers, and work closely with Marketing and Sales. And, you’ll operate within financial guidelines that you’ll help set;
  • Work with development leadership to build a mutually acceptable roadmap and understand the capabilities and needs of the development organization;
  • Define the process of taking high-level ideas and translating them into workable user stories the development team can consume.
  • Own the roadmap and execution of the company’s product strategy;
  • Work with stakeholders to build feedback loops;
  • Coalesce all the input we get (and invent ways to get more);
  • Create a coherent vision of what our products should be (and understand where they might fall short today);
  • Catalyze our cross-functional resources to implement that vision (even though most of those resources don’t report to you);
  • Ship great product – well, reliably and frugally;
  • Strategize with the CEO and leadership team using Market research and competitive analysis to determine the most efficient way to help more small businesses more deeply;
  • Model the optimal blend of hard-nosed data-driven choices and intuitive yet principled leaps of faith. Show us what it’s like when Product Management deeply “gets” the customers, and at the same time delivers high ROI rather than perfection.

Qualifications

Things we’re needing in you:

  • 8+ years of product experience inclusive of PLG software development
  • You’ve done this before. You’ve built a product organization from scratch
  • Deep experience with SaaS products and business analytics
  • A cadre of product management “graduates” - past employees - for whom your mentorship meaningfully increased their skills, effectiveness and happiness.
  • A head for experimentation, measurement and data-driven decision-making. If you used a spreadsheet to analyze your March Madness bracket, it wouldn’t be too much. Proof of where you’ve used data to say “no” to the right things is a huge plus.
  • Proven understanding of, and empathy for, businesspeople and small businesses. Show us your off-the-charts customer satisfaction scores, and we’ll show you ours!
  • Experience working with an agile team using scrum methodology
