Job Description
Contribute to the ongoing success of the business by leading Continuous Improvement initiatives across the Transport Logistic operation. Responsible for identifying, developing and implementing operational efficiencies across transport, fleet, warehousing interfaces, 3PL customer business and logistics processes.
Drive a culture of continuous improvement whilst supporting the delivery of strategic transport projects, ensuring operational excellence, service improvements, cost optimisation and enhanced customer satisfaction. Champion both internal and external customer improvement programmes, delivering measurable and sustainable business benefits.
We have 2 Vacancies for Continuous Improvement Managers. These roles can be based in Wakefield or Appleton (Warrington).
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 09.00-17.00
Key Duties of a Continuous Improvement Manager:
- Lead transport and logistics improvement projects across the operation, delivering agreed objectives, benefits and performance improvements.
- Support the development and execution of the transport strategy, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation, route optimisation, vehicle productivity and resource efficiency.
- Analyse transport performance data and KPIs, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions to drive service improvements.
- Work collaboratively with Transport Management teams to identify operational challenges and prioritise improvement opportunities.
- Systematically apply Continuous Improvement (CIP) and Lean methodologies to deliver measurable enhancements in productivity, cost and service performance.
- Identify problem areas and implement improvements to transport processes, compliance standards and standard operating procedures.
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques and root cause analysis to eliminate recurring operational issues.
- Actively engage with colleagues, customers and stakeholders to ensure best practice adoption across the transport network.
- Coach and support managers and operational teams in Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies.
- Identify and remove barriers to operational performance and project delivery.
- Support the development of a continuous improvement culture through employee engagement, training and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Coordinate and deliver improvement initiatives in partnership with customers and central Continuous Improvement teams.
- Develop and maintain effective Continuous Improvement policies, procedures, goals and objectives to support sustainable business growth.
Qualifications
- Proven experience within Transport, Logistics or Supply Chain operations.
- Strong Continuous Improvement background with practical application of Lean methodologies, including 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience of driving operational improvement initiatives within complex, fast-paced logistics environments.
- Demonstrable success in leading transport optimisation and business improvement projects.
- Experience of analysing transport data, KPIs and operational metrics to support decision making.
- Knowledge of transport legislation, fleet operations and logistics best practice.
- Experience of developing and implementing Continuous Improvement methodologies at site and network level.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proven ability to identify process inefficiencies and implement sustainable solutions.
- Track record of improving operational performance, customer service and cost efficiency.
- Able to take ownership of projects from inception through to successful implementation.
- Ensure improvements are embedded into business operations, procedures and standard working practices.
- Automotive, retail, FMCG or logistics sector experience desirable.
