Job Description

Due to continued growth our Telford site are now recruiting for a Transport Planner to join their friendly team on full time permanent basis.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 6:30am-6:30pm.

Salary: £29,843 per annum, plus £1,000 per annum attendance bonus.  

As a Transport Planner you will plan, book and administer all Transport requirements for Deliveries and Collections. To ensure all deliveries and collections are achieved on time and in full by effective planning and ensure all loads are resourced efficiently. 

Key Duties of a Transport Planner include:

  • Producing an efficient combined Inbound & Outbound Plan.
  • Ensure Plans are cost effective, focussing on Moving Deck / Internal Fleet Utilisation.
  • Completing Daily KPI’s and abide by targets set by the Transport Planning Manager.
  • Monitoring both the Planning & Collection Request Inboxes / handling any Planning related phone calls.
  • Organising Customer Returns and Depot Uplifts.
  • Book additional sub contractors and ensure accurate and concise information is given.
  • Provide support to the Collections Team, where needed.
  • Working closely with Transport, Warehouse & Customer Service to achieve the common goal.
  • Resource Planning.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Transport Planning in a radial and direct delivery environment including Inter Depot Trunk or Cross Docking movements.
  • Knowledge of Transport Management Systems is desirable.
  • Team player who can develop Internal and External relationships.
  • Experience of reporting within a Cost / KPI driven operational environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure and to prioritise workloads to meet set deadlines.
  • Good Geographical knowledge.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, without direction.
  • Computer literate including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
