Job Description

As Shift Operations Manager you will oversee the day to day management responsibility for the Warehouse Shift Operations & associated functions and facilities. You willl deputise for the Operations Manager on occasions for normal ASH issues and growth.

You will maximize site operational performance by providing strong leadership to the Shift Management teams and associated support functions including but not exclusive to Quality, H&S, HR, Admin and the process compliance that entails. Liaising daily to establish and manage the operating strategy, while assuring through the use of performance management tools compliance to KPI targets and business objectives.

You will need have a confident style of management with a diligent and enthusiastic manner to engage with onsite and customer teams to support and manage aspirations and development. 

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08.00-17.00

Key Duties of a Shift Operations Manager:

  • Assume responsibility for ensuring that Health & Safety strategies are aligned with the overall site and business guidelines.
  • Responsible for all warehouse shift operational activities within the site.
  • Ensure all KPI’s are delivered consistently meet the customer’s and business expectations.
  • Develop and lead (As applicable) a culture of continuous improvement with the development of new and innovative ways of working in order to enhance operational performance and people development.
  • Manage and develop the operating team, identifying key team members for the future, Use PDP and 1 to 1 communication assuring individuals growth while complementing succession plans.
  • Lead and contribute to the recruitment and training strategy to ensure that staff are fully trained in the Safety, Quality and the Operational requirements that apply to their roles within direct teams. Maximising the retention opportunity through good induction methodology.
  • Manage compliance and productivity within the guidelines of the GB business.
  • Closely manage productivity and operating targets to ensure the attainment/improvement of financial performance targets.
  • Liaise with customers as required as a partner and service provider both delivering and managing expectations.
  • Managing and maintaining site facilities and visiting contractors.
  • Managing the daily weekly and forecasted resource requirements using the necessary customer information, productivity analysis and business tools in conjunction with the customer and site strategy.
  • Assist as applicable GDP (MHRA) compliance and H&S (HSE) process creation and compliance management supporting internal and external audit requirements.

Qualifications

  • A demonstrable track record in managing high volume, high service driven warehouse operations.
  • Ability to think and work both strategically and operationally.
  • A successful builder and leader of large and diverse teams.
  • A positive can do outlook with the determination and tenacity to succeed.
  • Experience of CIP, ideally including formal programs such as Kaizen, Six Sigma and Lean would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to converse at all levels.
  • Previous knowledge and experience or a retail type environment would be an advantage.
  • A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the company and customer.
