Job Description

The Engineering Team Leader to drive improvements to production efficiencies, maintenance and improvement programs. The role will implement best practices, team development, personal development and supporting the Engineering strategy.

Specific tasks include (please note that this list is not exhaustive):

  • Uphold, develop and deliver robust Asset care through professional maintenance
  • Report near misses when identified
  • Ensure health and safety actions are closed out
  • Review downtime data and key priorities to focus engineering support
  • Conduct RCA on machinery failures and put 100 year fix in place
  • Review current PPMs and align with manufacturers recommendations
  • Support and develop stores and spare parts/critical spares stock requirements for asset care and also control booking out of spares
  • Improve, uphold and sustain GMP and workshop standards verses target
  • Own tool box audits
  • Lead shift hand over meetings and shift reports
  • Plan and execute shutdown maintenance requirements
  • Support the weekend planning and attend weekend meetings
  • Lead shift hand over meetings and shift reports
  • Deliver team briefs and business reports on a weekly/monthly basis
  • Ensure time and attendance of engineers is upheld
  • Provide stand-in support for Area Engineering Manager where applicable
  • Hands on engineering breakdown support
  • Support the engineering budget through delivering cost effective maintenance
  • H&S Champion ensuring safe working of your team & others at all times
  • Ensure that shifts are adequately manned at all times
  • Support apprentice development
  • Legislative Compliance & Audit Compliance duties
  • Create standard setting manuals for all equipment available for all

SCOPE: Responsible for ensuring the engineering team is managed and in full control ensuring all Company policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

  • Recommended spares for each line availability
  • Engineer workload and development
  • PPM compliance
  • Use of integrated management system
  • Site downtime reduction as per target

Qualifications

  • 18th edition
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Experience of working in a food factory environment would be advantageous
  • Fully complete apprenticeship is desirable, with packing experience
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Able to communicate and motivate others is an essential part of the role. Understanding of internal systems and processes, with the ability to work within these parameters. An understanding of health and safety requirements is essential.
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive disposition, and a clear focus on meeting deadlines. Must be flexible in approach to work and undertake overtime during busy periods when required.

Management Ability

The post holder must be able to work under pressure both as part of a team and on own initiative. Must also be able to communicate effectively to ensure the smooth running of the department. Must be able to make own decisions and liaise with other department colleagues and/or departments.
