As a Transport Operator, you will play a vital role within our business. Supporting the Transport Operations and Fleet Admin teams, this role will support the running of a smooth operation. Dealing with 10-15 collections and despatching around 27 loads per day.

The site operates with a fleet size of 30 units and 55 trailers. With maximum focus on efficiency, you will also brief a team of 50 drivers ensuring all delivery and despatch information is effectively communicated across.

Salary: £36,000 per annum

Shift: Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 19:00

Key Duties of a Transport Operator:

• Understand inbound volume. Use and control daily collections sheet to trigger early warning of delays.
• Understand the despatch time and plan collections around these times.
• Review all load summary documents for accuracy and escalate any potential issues.
• Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours’ regulations.
• Check load plans, gate-passes and load summary envelopes are correct, including the provision of temperature and information stickers and maps if required.
• Ensuring all information is updated onto the system in a timely and accurate manner. Updating pallet volumes, creating jobs, etc.
• Maintain and update the information on fleet and sub-contractor availability, trailer information etc.
• This list is not exhaustive and the job holder may be required to undertake other duties.

• Full UK Driving License
• Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment is desirable
• Experience in the use of Microsoft office suite of products mainly word, excel and outlook
• Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment
• Demonstrable capability of dealing with conflicting priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills that have been used to support a customer focused operation
• Experience of Fleet Maintenance of contracted maintenance services
• Writing and producing customer reports
• Sound geographical knowledge
• Basic understanding of drivers hours, working time and tachograph regulations
• Good knowledge of the local and national transport industry
