Job Description

To deliver an efficient and cost-effective warehousing solution to accommodate the requirements of the Washington operation, both Tesco Express and Cross Dock Consolidation and achieve the necessary service levels whilst operating within the legal limits.

To monitor daily operational targets/costs and Key Performance Indicators, ensuring these take into account Company standards and agreed Customer service level parameters during your shift.

Key Duties of a Warehouse Supervisor:

  • Identify the training and development needs for Warehouse Operatives, coach/organise/oversee solutions using own knowledge and company training tools.
  • Ensure all practices and procedures are carried out in line with legislation and Company Health & Safety policy, BRC Legislation and HACCP
  • Monitor and control costs and proactively manage them against budget
  • To liaise closely with Site Managers within the Washington Depot to ensure understanding of each-other’s issues, joint resolution of problems and achieve efficiencies between the departments
  • To ensure staff rota, allocation and resource is planned to meet operational requirements, at all times without incurring unnecessary cost/service levels to the operation.
  • Ensure that company standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained at all times
  • Ensure that M.H.E. check / inspection procedures are followed, faults escalated and resolved and regular checks on best practice are evidenced.
  • To attend management meetings as appropriate and produce management reports and statistics as requested.
  • To liaise regularly with operations and all other departments and sites to develop strong working relationships.
  • Maintain department discipline including time keeping, conduct and performance using the Company disciplinary policy and procedures with the support of HR and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Oversee the effective application of the Company absence policy and procedures including monitoring of absence levels and conducting return to work discussions.
  • Engage in proactive performance management programmes, process improvement solutions and a proactive evolution of Warehouse operations at Washington – to implement, standardise and maintain a best in class operation in accordance with company process and procedures.

Qualifications

 

  • 3-5 years Supervisory experience within a warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of Warehouse health & safety legislation
  • Knowledge of  Operational methods and procedures relating to the FMCG industry
  • Flexibility in thinking and approach
