We are actively recruiting for a Transport Shift Manager to join us on a full time, permanent basis at our Great Bear site in Heywood.
Job Description
Shift pattern: Wednesday - Saturday days
Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum
Joining us as a Transport Shift Manager you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day transport teams.
You will be supporting the Transport Operations Manager and Customer Support Supervisor in ensuring that costs are controlled in line with budget, that all compliance standards are upheld in full, whilst driving a safety-first continuous improvement culture and always delivering an exceptional service for our customers.
Transport Shift Manager Key Duties
- Manage the Transport teams to execute transport plans to enable delivery of products to customers within agreed cost / service levels.
- Attend customer review meetings, delivering KPI and service updates.
- Ensure that the Transport teams deliver a DOD / COD more than 98.5% for all customers.
- Ensure that all customer escalations are always dealt with in line with SLA’s and professionally.
- Ensure that all operational and customer reports are completed on time in full and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ensure a secure and safe environment for staff / contractors, both in your department and across our site.
- Manage and carry out monthly site audits ensuring that all processes are being followed in line with Culina Group policy
- Ensure that all available fleet is on the road minimising VOR levels.
- Manage the day-to-day driver resource for the site, through effective planning of core drivers, minimising agency use, to zero.
- Motivate and develop the teams through engagement, training, and personal development plans.
- Ensure all staff are fully trained and have the correct equipment required to do their job.
- Manage any incidents and accidents, following the company process from initial notification / investigation through to root cause analysis, keeping EOA updated every step of the way.
- Manage in line with group disciplinary process.
- Responsible for Kronos monitoring and approving drivers weekly timecards.
- Ensure that the Transport team and drivers comply with all relevant regulations and site procedures.
- Support implementation of service improvements in conjunction with customers and associated key stakeholders.
- Generate and implement ideas with regards to staff and operational changes, driving a continuous improvement culture.
Qualifications
- Considerable experience working in a shared user customer facing environment.
- Passion for delivery of excellent customer service within a growing business
- Good written and verbal communications, be able to adapt the communication style to meet different situations and personalities
- Coach, train and motivate team members, be able to influence and steer to produce high end results
- Ability to lead a team and manage performance objectives through one to ones and staff appraisals
- A creative approach to problem solving and managing a team
- Transport Manager CPC – desirable.
- IOSH (Or other safety management qualification) desirable.
- Previous TMS experience, e.g Microlise / Road Runner
- Strong people manager with proven, demonstratable experience of dealing with company processes / policies.
