Culina Logistics is the leading 3rd party UK logistics business specialising in chilled warehousing providing an excellent platform for food and drink manufacturers.

We are now recruiting for a Transport First Line Managers on a full time, permanent basis at our Stafford depot.

Job Description

We currently have two openings for the below shifts. 

  • Monday - Friday  20:00 - 06:30 
  • Flexible - nights/days 

First Line Manager will be responsible for: 

  • Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers e.g. accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts etc
  • Planning of driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery/collection times
  • Liaise with the shunting operation covering pre loading & unloading operation
  • Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments
  • Optimisation of resource and adherence of WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
  • Using the Driver Rota, plan drivers according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness
  • Equipment control 
  • To ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT’s etc
  • Carry out disciplinary hearings, RTW meetings, substance misuse procedure etc
  • Ensure any risk assessments at depot are organised and carried out accordingly
  • Ensure all accidents/incidents/near miss are logged and reported
  • To increase staff retention and maintain good morale, reporting any driver’s issues or concerns to management. In turn, communicate any operational changes that may affect a driver’s daily duties
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhere to all health & safety/ safe systems of work

Qualifications

  • Transport experience in FMCG environment
  • Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
  • Previous management, supervisory experience 
  • Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages
  • Effectively prioritise work load in order to meet set deadlines
  • Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure smooth running of the general operation 
  • CPC National desirable but not essential
