We are looking for Transport Supervisor to join the team at our Teynham depot. 

As a Transport Supervisor you will be responsible for leading the night traffic operations team and driver team in, ensuring the planning of Company and Third Party resources, managing vehicle utilisation and ensuring drivers are given clear and precise instructions.

Transport Supervisor will also ensure that all service levels are met cost effectively and within the constraints of the driver’s hours and Health and Safety regulations.

Shift: Wednesday - Saturday    19:00 - 07:00

Salary: £36,397 per annum

Main Responsibilities:

• To ensure that all elements of the job are communicated effectively to all personnel especially drivers and sub-contractors.
• To ensure that people under your control work within a safe environment and follow drivers hours regulations when driving
• Close liaison with fellow team members and management to discuss efficiencies and agreed operational practises.
• To assist in the control of equipment ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
• To monitor RDC performances
• To liaise with customers regarding present or future developments
• To support and if necessary covering the Operations Manager in meetings or customer reviews
• To ensure that all vehicle and trailer services are completed on time
• To ensure Enterprise completed daily and all trips fully resourced on a daily basis
• To undertake additional tasks/duties as may be required by management from time to time
• To make appropriate changes to the plan based on changes within the operation

Skills, experience and knowledge required: 

• Experience of supervising workloads within a distribution/transport environment or similar
• Experience working within FMCG environment
• Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law
• A sound understanding of vehicle planning within a transport environment or similar
• Sound Geographical Knowledge
• Able to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Adaptable and flexible in approach to work
• Written and verbal communication Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
• Proficiency in Word and Excel 
• Raising others’ capability
• Thoroughness/attention to detail
