Job Description

Joining the Fowler Welch team as a Key Account Manager, you will support the General Manager and site Operational Management team in the pro-active management of the customer base, to maintain an understanding of their requirements and facilitate their growth plans.

To identify and pursue additional harvest revenue opportunities and ensure that any new business agreed, can be operationally delivered to a high standard of service and optimum commercial benefit.

Salary - £45,000- £50,000 DOE

Main Responsibilities

  • Attend regular customer review meetings, presenting relevant and appropriate KPI reports and work closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure resolution of recurring issues
  • Own and progress any required actions on impacts and trends following customer meetings and react to / escalate potential revenue or profit risks as appropriate
  • Work in conjunction with the depot Operations team to sponsor operational innovation in pursuit of continuously improving customer service, yield and revenue growth
  • Identify and create opportunities to develop the customer relationship to maximise business revenue, growth and profit as part of an agreed ‘harvesting’ plan
  • Provide MI regarding sales pipeline and conversion in line with the Company account management reporting framework
  • Prepare pricing and tender proposals in line with the standard cost model and internal process, ensuring that the true cost of provision is reflected in all commercial propositions
  • Participate in contract negotiation and associated meetings
  • Work in partnership with the operations team to ensure any new business can be operated and supported appropriately from start-up and on an on-going basis
  • Work collaboratively with the Business Development team to ensure growth plans and activities are aligned / complementary
  • Maintain relationships with external industry contacts and purposefully network with existing customers to develop new business opportunities
  • Keep up to date with relevant industry and sector developments and make recommendations for internal change as appropriate, including the review of appropriate systems and processes
  • Ensure all decisions taken fit within the framework of Company policies and procedures, including Health & Safet

Qualifications

  • Experience of customer account management in FMCG industry
  • Developing and delivering revenue and profit growth plans
  • Experience of KPI ownership / management in the context of customer relationships
  • Solution design and price negotiation
  • Working with cost and pricing models
  • Supporting the development of tender proposals
  • Account management principles, methods and techniques
  • Operational understanding of FMCG distribution industry, including the relative costs, charges and solutions
  • Rate calculation methods and their application to a commercial contract
