We are looking for a HR Manager to join our team at Fowler Welch. This is an exciting opportunity to support a new site operation, which naturally requires some dedicated HR input. There is also the chance with this role to really drive the people agenda and make a significant impact. 

The HR Manager will partner with key stakeholders in the relevant business areas, building effective relationships and confidently advising them to ensure people practices are applied effectively. We're looking for someone who can truly partner the business, with the ability to make sound decisions and is a great communicator at all levels. You should also be flexible in your approach and enjoy working in a fast-paced organisation with changing priorities. 

Job Description

The main responsibilities of the HR Manager are:

  • Work in partnership with the senior managers across your business areas to support development and delivery of their People, Engagement and Training Plans to ultimately achieve Company objectives whilst supporting delivery of the HR Roadmap.
  • Through customer understanding, effectively utilise the support and offerings of the HR ‘Specialist Teams’ to help you deliver seamless and efficient operational service to the business specifically in relation to recruitment, training and reward. 
  • Support managers in the planning and implementation of business change and organisation re-structures, including TUPE and redundancy situations.
  • Provide an advisory service to the business on ER casework (mainly complex / potential dismissals).
  • Ensure the fair application of HR policies and procedures.
  • Support and implement a pro-active approach to attraction / recruitment / selection activities ensuring that solutions are cost-effective, future-focused and appropriate for purpose to support the recruitment activity for your depots to ensure vacancies are filled with suitably skilled and competent individuals.
  • Use MI / commentary to facilitate a proactive response within the business to the areas of risk / concern identified and plan / devise early solutions in line with trends.
  • Facilitate an improvement on the people management skills and capability of your managers and their direct reports.
  • Work with managers to identify collective and individual learning needs and provide both short-term and long-term coaching support and solutions.
  • Facilitate the identification, development and retention of site talent, though succession planning and career development activity.
  • Deliver skills based workshops for managers on people related processes.
  • Facilitate new starter induction programmes across your business areas to support retention and on-barding initiatives.
  • Facilitate the effectiveness of and recommend improvements to the consultation and communication process between your business areas and its colleagues.
  • Ensure that relevant forms are completed and submitted in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support, facilitate and /or co-ordinate HR projects cross functionally and across all business areas as required.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of upskilling managers
  • Positive feedback from the business for your area and the overall HR Department
  • Visible ambassadors of the ‘business partnering’ model and approach with commitment to ensure it works effectively and is understood.
  • Visible demonstration of living and breathing the HR Operating Model and ensuring it works.
  • A strong decision maker 
  • Efficiency / quality of advisory service and support provided
  • Improvements in key people indicators e.g. employee turnover, absence rates, recruitment
  • CIPD qualification or can demonstrate significant experience in the HR field.
