We now have an internal opportunity for a Planner to join the team at our Lutterworth depot. 

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (19.00-07.00)

To assist in the daily planning of company and third party resources, ensuring that all vehicles and drivers get clear precise instruction and are fully utilised. 

Main Responsibilities of a Planner:

• Ensuring all deliveries are planned to customer requirements and achieved to agreed service levels
• Review and revisit communicated supplier volumes - estimates and actuals – to produce effective collection and delivery load plans reporting significant volume variances to management
• Proactively reprioritise base plan to maximise collection efficiency
• Build base plan to maximise load fill and customer delivery on time
• Ensuring empty running is kept to a minimum and to agreed SLA/KPI’s
• Resourcing and planning the chilled operation
• Ensuring all information is updated onto the system in a timely and accurate manner
• Report significant volume variances to management
• Dealing with and resolving all driver issues promptly and politely both over the telephone and face to face
• Complete ownership of tramper utilisation and planning
• Prevent EU Hours contraventions wherever possible. Raise alerts as necessary for drivers who may or already have contravened EU hours or Working Time regulations
• Effective and timely internal and external communications
• Proactively identifying ways of maximising driver, vehicle and subcontractor resource
• Cover duties of the Planning Team leader as necessary and within capabilities
• Support traffic team in relation to execution of DOT/De-brief and Brief.
• Escalate and resolve returns, ensuring pallets are processed and returned daily

• CPC – completed or progress towards
• Educated to A Level standard
• Experience in planning for FMCG
• Experience of managing workload within a distribution/transport environment or similar       
• Previous experience of planning resources
• A sound understanding of vehicle planning within a transport environment or similar
• Sound geographical knowledge
• Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law

• Able to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment
• Proficiency in Word and Excel
• Good written and verbal communication skills
