We are currently recruiting for a Transport Support Operator on a full time, permanent basis at our Spalding site.

The Transport Support Operator role has been introduced to the Fowler Welch operational structure to provide opportunities for individuals to enter the dynamic world of transport. The role is designed to expose new entrants to the industry to different areas of the Transport Operation, including Despatch, Tracking and Compliance – as well as acting as a first step in an exciting new career within the ever changing Transport Industry! The role has an in depth competency framework which gives employees a clear development and training plan tailored to support the operation whilst encouraging personal growth. 

The working pattern we are looking to fill is a 4 days on, 4 days off 07:00 to 19:00 shift rotation. Salary starting from £20,500 dependant on experience.

As a Transport Support Operator you key duties will be:

  • Dispatching outbound drivers, ensuring that correct paperwork is issued, and that all instructions regarding collections and deliveries are clear and understood.
  • Monitoring the progress of our fleet at all stages of their journey's.
  • Ensuring any delays or issues potentially affecting performance are escalated appropriately
  • Utilise customer or retailer systems to ensure that bookings are made, amended, or progress updated as necessary
  • Assist in resolving operational issues as appropriate, liaising with drivers, customers, delivery points or other stakeholders as required.
  • Collating and presenting KPIs or other operational information as directed, to demonstrate performance and improvement opportunities
  • Liaise with internal departments as required, to ensure performance is optimised - including Warehouse, Finance, Fleet, KAMs
  • Assist other operational departments as directed, to ensure operational or legal compliance is to the highest standard. Examples may include: assisting with vehicle downloads, vehicle condition checks, investigating incidents, dealing with vehicle breakdowns etc.

Qualifications

​​​​​We are looking for people who enjoy working as part of a team whilst keeping responsibility for your own workload, and who can use their knowledge and initiative under pressure in fast moving office environment.

Ideally you will have experience of using IT packages including Microsoft Office Word and Excel to an intermediate skill level.
