Job Description

To effectively control, manage and organise the IPS Dudley site to ensure safe and compliant operations at the highest levels of efficiency within agreed budgetary constraints.Provide leadership and direction to the operations function, developing the capability of the IPS colleagues so that they operate as one high performing team. Providing strategic operations input to maintain best practice whilst being an effective member of the management team, providing longer term strategic input thereby playing an integral part in the business’s continuing success.

Key Duties:

  • Manage the Operations capability of the site to maximum customer satisfaction at optimised profitability and minimised operation costs
  • In conjunction with Technical Manager ensure compliance to Company and Legal requirements of H&S and Quality
  • Champion and drive the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation in support of the overall business strategy.
  • Lead the implementation of the Operational Strategy, develop and monitor KPI’s to manage performance of the production teams.
  • Ensure production processes are optimised and efficiencies maximised through best practice.
  • Manage identified business improvements, engineering and capital expenditure projects within agreed remit and budgets.
  • Manage the supply chain and logistics activities to minimise business risk.
  • To facilitate project planning processes within all operations.
  • Effectively plan and manage labour resourcing against production plan to meet customer requirements
  • Work in a collaborative manner with multiple teams to ensure key requirements are communicated, understood and implemented.
  • Ensure the day to day operations are measurable and sustainable taking corrective action when required.
  • Ensure site departments are managing within their respective budgets.
  • Ensure teams are providing a reliable service that meets the company’s KPI’s, quality measures and audit requirements in line with good manufacturing practices (GMP)
  • Support the management team in the development of standardised systems and processes.
  • Challenge ways of working with a view to monitor and control costs implementing lean manufacturing principles where required.
  • Lead the recruitment process, engaging with agency partners to ensure required skill set is in place when required.
  • Coach, support and develop staff and implement relevant succession plans.
  • Work collaboratively with local HR Business Partners in managing employee relations.
  • Promote and adhere to health and safety practices at all times.
  • Establish internal capability in order to protect business identity and client brands.
  • Be a role model and champion best practice throughout operations.
  • To undertake other duties from time to time that are commensurate within this role.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience of working successfully within a customer led FMCG packaging / production environment
  • Experience of customer/retailer audits (BRC, ISO et al)
  • Able to manage teams with conflicting priorities and able to prioritise and manage multiple campaigns / clients
  • Experience of operating efficiencies through key metrics / data
  • Management qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Level 3 Health & Safety qualification or above
  • Level 3 Food Safety qualification or above
  • Strong industry continuous improvement skills and knowledge
  • High level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Possess a dynamic leadership attitude, supporting teams as needed and work together to add value and manage challenges
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and clients across multiple sites and multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage, motivate and coach
  • Possess a ‘right first time’ attitude and have a willingness to be hands on when required
