We are now recruiting for a Lead Driver Trainer on a full time, permanent basis in Evesham, Worcester.

Shift: Monday to Friday, 8.00 – 17.30

Job Description

To lead the day to day delivery of the Evesham site driver training provision that ensures all drivers are trained in line with Company policy and standards. Support where practicable within our site compliance team ensuring standards are met and exceeded wherever possible.

  • To lead, plan and deliver all aspects of training to the drivers, FTE and agency based around the yearly objectives of the site and wider business objectives.
  • Supervise and manage the allocation of Evesham driver assessors to ensure that all resource is utilised in delivering all aspects of driver training. Liaising with the Evesham operations team to ensure resource is made available when required.
  • Taking accountability for the delivery of agreed targets.
  • Deliver all aspects of training to the drivers, including vehicle and trailer specific familiarisation, SAFED training and Driver CPC.
  • Assess potential new drivers, both permanent and agency.
  • Plan and deliver the induction plan for new drivers.
  • Ensure training records are kept up to date and files are maintained.  
  • Update and brief SSOW processes and associated documentation to the drivers.
  • Ensure drivers are familiar with existing equipment and that drivers are trained and proficient on new equipment when purchased or hired in the future.
  • Ensure the drivers licence entitlements and “right to work documents” are valid as part of pre-employment process.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the tachograph monitoring software
  • Review driver’s infringements, arrange re-training when necessary.
  • Work with the Operations and Fleet managers to review any motor vehicle accidents, ensuring root cause analysis is carried out and arranging re-training when needed.
  • Maintain communication between the Drivers and the operational teams to ensure all training requirements are achieved and policies are adhered to

Qualifications

  • HGV Driving Licence – full, clean C+E
  • CPC National Road Haulage
  • HGV Driving Instructor qualification is desirable
  • Previous experience of driver training
  • Good previous experience of working as HGV Class 1 Driver
  • Experience of Microlise & Tachomaster software suites
  • Thoroughness and good attention to detail
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Full understanding of driver’s hours’ regulations, WTD and use of digital Tachograph
