Culina Group a well established leader in the logistics market is recruiting for a Transport First Line Manager on a full time, permanent basis at our Bristol depot.

Job Description

Work Pattern : Tuesday to Saturday

Shifts: - 22.30 - 07.00

The role holder will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Effective planning of driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery/collection times, creating and updating daily run summary
  • Liaise with the shunting operation covering pre loading & unloading operation
  • Ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments
  • Optimisation of resource and adherence of WTD and drivers’ hours legislation
  • Using the Driver Rota, plan drivers according to shift pattern and available hours, taking into account holidays and sickness
  • Equipment control through sign in/sign out procedure
  • To ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOT’s etc
  • Carry out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, substance misuse procedure etc in order to maintain standards and ensure that employees work at an appropriate level
  • Ensure any risk assessments at depot are organised and carried out accordingly
  • Ensure all accidents/incidents/near miss are logged and reported in line with company procedures
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with drivers, communicating accurate start times, load information, directions, additional shifts etc
  • To increase staff retention and maintain good morale, reporting any driver’s issues or concerns to management. In turn, communicate any operational changes that may affect a driver’s daily duties
  • Ensure adherence to all statutory and legal requirements, adhere to all health & safety/ safe systems of work

Qualifications

Competence Requirements:

  • Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/ driving rules and regulations
  • CPC National desirable but not essential
  • Previous management/ supervisory experience 
  • Planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
  • Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours
  • Significant transport experience in FMCG environment
