Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst assists in the development, management, and achievement of the firm’s financial goals. This is a highly visible position that interacts with Chief and Executive level management, providing high quality reports and analysis to improve the financial performance of the Firm.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly financial review summary reports for Chief and Executive level management, developing the ‘story’ behind the numbers.
  • Analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to ensure financial information has been recorded accurately and takes appropriate action to fix recurring problems if errors are uncovered.
  • Uses Microsoft Management Studio to create ad-hoc SQL queries/reporting, stored procedures, data tables and views.
  • Develops and interprets revenue and expense analyses, reports, and annual projections with recommendations to increase the level of achievement of operational, financial and strategic goals and creates presentations to aid in strategic decision making.
  • Assists with weekly and monthly reporting and updates to rolling twelve months forecast.
  • Key member of the FP&A team on preparation of firm annual budgets.
  • Participates in compilation and analysis of financial information for all offices as well as competitive benchmarking and industry wide surveys.
  • Special project execution as required by the CFO and senior finance team management

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate, thorough and above all, curious.
  • As this is a highly visible role, the candidates must have presence and be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with attorneys, and all levels of management.
  • Ability to understand the story behind the numbers and communicate with a sophisticated but not always financially astute audience in a way that drives business improvement.
  • Highly organized and with the judgement to prioritize work in a dynamic environment to meet daily deadlines.
  • Must be comfortable working across functions and representing the finance team in Firm wide projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS suite Excel and Power Point, as well as knowledge of SQL, Visual Studio and/or IBM Cognos TM1 is preferred.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field. CPA or equivalent is preferred.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in a Financial Analyst or similar role. Of this experience, at least two (2) years within a Big Four accounting firm and three (3) years in a law firm setting are preferred.
