Job Description
The Senior Conference Technology Specialist has supervisory responsibility for the technical and operations support of all audio-visual equipment related activity in the Washington DC office. Additionally, the Senior Conference Technology Specialist assists the Conference Technology Services Manager regarding conference technology support to the DC customer community including, but not limited to, maintenance of equipment and conference room technology.
- Assists IS management in designing and implementing support policy and procedures for the Conference Technology team.
- Leads the Conference Technology team with day-to-day tasks.
- Determines the cause of customer dissatisfaction involving conference technology. Makes immediate corrections where applicable.
- Keeps management informed of all equipment problems and their resolution. Submits regular failure/success reports and maintains log of support activity including VTC usage and conference room technology setups, etc.
- Works with management to create instructional documentation and standard operating procedures for configuration and maintenance of AV hardware.
- Participates in the planning discussions involving production, system availability, workflow and problems which may negatively impact system performance.
- Continually improves technical proficiency through research, self-training and participation in internal and external training opportunities.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses and identifies failing/failed audio/visual equipment.
- Maintains audio/visual equipment, spare equipment, and supply inventories.
- Informs manager when stock is low and purchases additional stock when appropriate.
- Provide after-action communication to the Conference Technology team after maintenance items have been completed.
- Document status of all Conference Technology hardware troubleshooting efforts.
- Assists with orientation and training for new assistants, technicians or specialists.
- Continually improves client service through prompt, accurate, creative, technology solutions.
- Keeps end users and supervisors informed of status problem resolution and project progress.
- Continually evaluates and improves existing and new procedures and services.
- Makes recommendations to management on ways to increase quality and efficiency of services provided.
- Routinely performs inventory asset management and accountability assessment.
- Triages support tickets daily using workflow management system (Remedy Force)
- Experience providing direct technical customer support on the phone, online, and in person, including use of a ticketing or work tracking system.
Qualifications
- Advanced hands-on experience with video conferencing technologies: Cisco, Poly, Extron, Crestron control, IP Protocols, Pexip AV bridging services, Video and Voice over IP.
- Advanced technical skills, including hardware, operating system, video teleconferencing systems (such as MS Teams and Zoom), telecommunications, advanced networking, Unified Communication systems and software knowledge.
- Must be detail oriented and logical.
- Advanced knowledge of AV recording technology, file formats, simple editing, compression, and content streaming.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge or guidance, analyze and interpret data from several sources, solve problems by applying precedent or extrapolating from previous experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with attorneys, staff and vendors.
- Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding matters of a routine nature.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
- Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
- Knowledge of wireless access points, VLANs and basic network device configuration.
- Advanced knowledge configuring, maintaining, and sustaining Extron, Crestron, Poly, MS Teams UC, Zoom and Cisco UC/VTC technologies.
- Fundamental knowledge of sound reinforcement for conferencing and distance learning including technologies such as anti-echo, automated mic switching and beam forming microphones.
- Ability to safely lift, move and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Education
The position requires a High School Diploma and two (2) years of technical school/college. Equivalent training and experience may substitute for education.
Experience
The position requires a minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience working with personal computers, laptops and audio/visual equipment in a networked environment.
