Job Summary

The Senior Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator will work closely with the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager and Assistant to help organize and implement the firm’s various DEI initiatives. This role will be responsible for helping to improve and streamline the firm’s ongoing DEI initiative, including executing relevant programming and communications, managing regular administrative tasks, and implementing other firm strategies to continue fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace for all firm personnel.

Job Responsibilities

  • Works with the DEI Manager and DEI Assistant to execute DEI programs and initiatives (e.g., heritage month recognitions and celebrations, diversity speaker series events, bi-annual diversity retreat, Affinity Group Business Development Conversations, etc.), including organizing, tracking attendance, and communicating feedback.
  • Oversees the scheduling and facilitating of Affinity Group meetings including managing the development of meeting agendas, talking points, and follow-up items.
  • Tracks and organizes expenses charged to the Diversity Council budget and time billed to the DEI Billable CAM and provides quarterly reports to the DEI Manager.
  • Creates DEI communications and monitors social media presence through regular communication and media coverage. Periodically updates the DEI intranet page and DEI microsite; creates social media posts; distributes firmwide emails in recognition of various cultural history and heritage months; updates the Diversity at the Top publication; updates the DEI Newsletter. 
  • Assists with survey responses (client and industry), RFPs, diversity awards, and other internal or external inquiries, including creating timelines, language and data libraries, and calendars to anticipate future needs.
  • Oversees DEI sponsorship requests and follow-up, including registration, marketing materials, outreach to participants, and other relevant needs.
  • Assists with other DEI needs as necessary.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding both routine and complex matters. Requires tact, professionalism, patience, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. This includes editing work for spelling, grammar, and data accuracy with high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to own, organize, and prioritize multiple projects from start to finish in a dynamic and complex environment, meeting and proactively communicating around deadlines, and successfully managing the daily workload with internal deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Suite to produce quality written and numerical communications, including presentations and complex functions of Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a cooperative manner as well as independently to accomplish work in a timely manner and participate in team efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to represent the firm with professionalism and honesty, taking pride in work and the broader DEI mission, while consistently act in an ethical manner.

Education

The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a law firm or similar professional services environment, during which the knowledge, skills, and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated.
