Crowell & Moring LLP is a proud member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD), an organization of more than 320 Members, who serve as general counsel of major corporations or managing partners of the nation's leading law firms, dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession. Crowell & Moring has long been an active partner with LCLD—Ellen Dwyer, Chair of Crowell's Executive Committee, currently serves as the Chair of the LCLD Board.

Crowell & Moring is honored to participate in the 2022 LCLD 1L Scholar program and is now accepting applications from 1L law students. The LCLD 1L Scholar will participate in Crowell & Moring’s 2022 Summer Associate Program in the Orange County, CA office for five weeks and work with a Crowell & Moring client for the remaining five weeks. The Scholar will also participate in a number of networking and mentoring opportunities organized by the LCLD and all firm sponsored summer program training and events. 

Qualifications

This opportunity is open to current first year law students with the following qualifications: 
•    Enrolled full-time in an ABA-accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date of 2024 at the time of application.
•    Excellent academic credentials with first semester grades in the top 25% of the class.
•    Highly developed communication, writing and analytical skills, community service and leadership accomplishments. 
•    A demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and inclusiveness within the legal profession.

•    law school and undergraduate transcripts (unofficial is acceptable), 
•    legal writing sample,
•    and a brief (500 words or less) personal statement discussing your qualifications and commitment to promoting diversity in the legal profession or why diversity and inclusion is important to you.
