Job Summary:
The Claims Recovery Bookkeeper works under moderate supervision to provide bookkeeping support to the Irvine office of Crowell & Moring.

Job Responsibilities:
•    Perform general bookkeeping duties.
•    Receive payments and regularly reconcile monies received.
•    Account for financial transactions and disbursements.
•    Process high volume of disbursements in a timely and accurate manner.
•    Data entry into a custom database. 
•    Maintain historical records by filing documents and/or tracking information electronically.
•    Serve as liaison between claims recovery practice group and accounting department.
•    Develop and standardize processes and procedures; proactively look for process improvement.
•    Effectively work with large team to gather relevant information.
•    Occasionally attends conferences (when requested) that are sponsored by the department.
•    Participates as needed in special department projects.
•    Participates in training sessions regarding best practices and how to handle new projects.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education

The position requires a minimum of associate’s degree in business administration, accounting or relevant field.  Equivalent work experience in a corporate field/environment may be considered in lieu of some education. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience
The position requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly related bookkeeping experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated. Additional related education may be considered in lieu of some work experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

•    Attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Ability to critically analyze and deal with complex issues.
•    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding office data.
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with internal and external contacts.
•    Demonstrated working knowledge of Windows and MS suite of products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Proficiency with excel including basic formulas is is helpful.
•    Must possess a thorough command of the English language including excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation.  
•    Demonstrates ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic, innovative, and friendly manner to accomplish position functions and participate in team efforts.  
•    Self time-management & prioritization.
•    Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, to maintain a productive and committed work effort, and to deal with difficult situations and/or individuals, meeting deadlines and managing workload.  
•    Anticipate needs for various stakeholders including colleagues, supervisors and firm clients.
•    Ability to accurately type 50+ words per minute.
•    Ability to safely lift, move and carry items without assistance, weighing up to 20 lbs. 
•    Ability to work overtime hours as requested.
•    Accounting, Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Recievable experience is helpful, but not necessary.
