Job Description

CMI is seeking a Consultant to help support and grow its industry sustainability and digital transformation portfolio.  Consultants support client teams and accounts, undertaking international policy and regulatory affairs projects and advisory services on behalf of CMI clients.

Projects and client-related work for this position will include but is not limited to:

  • Supporting CMI client teams to advise clients and develop strategies on corporate sustainability programs, ocean and marine litter policy, development of waste management infrastructure in developing countries, and the use of innovative funding mechanisms.

  • Supporting CMI client teams on digital transformation policy research and strategies, including data flows, privacy and data protection, cybersecurity, digital trade issues and policy development around emerging technologies.

  • Supporting CMI client teams to position clients to engage successfully in multilateral, intergovernmental organizations such as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, the United Nations, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and others.

  • Monitoring, researching and analyzing political/regulatory/economic/environmental developments in foreign countries that impact clients.

  • Supporting the drafting of memos, presentations, talking points, briefing books, leave-behinds and other materials to support internal client strategy development and external advocacy.

  • Managing the development and execution of conferences, meetings, and other events for clients including logistical support.

Consultants support firm management activities and special projects, as requested.

Qualifications

Education

The position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.  Equivalent training and experience may substitute for education.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience or relevant academic experience.  Experience or interest in industry sustainability and digital transformation issues is preferred.  Foreign languages or experience in working with foreign governments and foreign stakeholders preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with attorneys, staff and external contacts.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.  Must possess an aptitude to coordinate a variety of initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and with others in a cooperative, enthusiastic and friendly manner to accomplish position functions.
  • Ability to provide quality client service to both internal and external contacts, regarding non-legal matters of a complex nature.
  • Willingness to undertake international travel.
