Job Description

The Specialist, Antitrust M&A is a member of the Practice Support Department whose job function includes efficient and effectively handling of advanced-level support of the antitrust practice group, including litigation and collection work. The Specialist, Antitrust M&A has a minimum billing requirement of 1600 hours per year.

Primary Areas of Responsibility:

• Performs at an advanced level of expertise in the antitrust practice area of law, with a focus on Mergers & Acquisitions.
• Assists attorneys in handling significant cases and complex work.
• Performs complex and factual research, analysis, and drafting of documents.
• Prepares initial drafts of Hart-Scott-Rodino premerger notification and report forms, as well as conduct initial review of related documents.
• Responsibility for coordinating and/or overseeing major components of document collection, review, and production activities related to M&A transactions; coordinates with outside vendors and co-counsel re same.
• Develops systems to regularly track HSR developments and rule changes; prepares reports for and communicates with practice group re same.
• Performs company and industry research in the context of specific proposed transactions.
• Provides technology support and assistance to attorneys and paralegals in the practice group by coordinating these activities with the Practice Support department.
• Continually improves client service through diligent, thoughtful and timely execution of service requests.
• Evaluates and improves existing and new operational procedures and services.
• Makes recommendations to management on ways to increase cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficient use of resources.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Education
The position requires a Bachelor’s Degree. Post-graduate education may substitute for some work experience.

Experience

The position requires a minimum of seven (7) years of increasingly responsible, directly related experience during which knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position were demonstrated.
Experience working in a large size law firm, particularly within the Antitrust M&A vertical, highly desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing with attorneys, staff and external contacts.
• Advanced knowledge of relevant areas of antitrust law.
• Must possess the interpersonal skills necessary to communicate information with tact and courtesy, as well as follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, lawyers and staff.
• Substantial knowledge of legal concepts, methodologies and procedures regarding HSR filings, and relevant areas of law pertaining to merger procedures.
• Demonstrate mastery of specific area of expertise to handle non-routine matters with discretion and initiative.
• Intermediate knowledge of MS suite to produce quality written communications such as memos, spreadsheets, slides, and standard work documents.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements.
• Ability to represent the firm with honesty, integrity, and professionalism, consistently acting in an ethical manner.
• Demonstrated understanding of firm filing and case organization procedures.
• Ability to analyze and interpret information from a variety of sources, apply critical and creative thinking to draw conclusions or develop solutions to complex problems.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
• Ability to lift and carry items weighing less than 50 lbs.
