Job Description

The Associate Product Development Engineer supports product development efforts within Cricut’s Consumables segment. This role focuses on executing product tests, analyzing data, and collaborating across functions to help bring innovative materials to market. The Associate Engineer will work closely with the Global R&D and Product Management teams to enhance product quality, optimize costs, and improve manufacturing processes. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, curiosity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, global environment.

Product Development Support (50%) – Assist in developing new materials and ongoing support of existing consumables by executing tests, collecting data, and supporting the stage gate process. Work with engineers and R&D Manager to refine product concepts and validate performance.

Project Collaboration (30%) – Contribute to cross-functional project teams to support cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain optimization efforts. Assist in concept assessments and competitive research.

Technical Research & Testing (15%) – Conduct material and performance testing, UX testing with Cricut machines and accessories, execute test methods, and analyze data to support product decisions.

Professional Development & Learning (5%) – Stay up to date on industry trends, Cricut’s product ecosystem, and best practices in materials and manufacturing. Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.

Please note: 

  • This position is global, with several team members residing outside of the US, most notably in Asia. Meetings are scheduled to accommodate multiple time zones, especially Asia. Evening meetings may be required 1-3 times per week. Because of this, work schedules can vary but this position is empowered to manage their own schedule and flexibility, as approved by management.
  • Work is highly collaborative, requiring communication across teams.
  • Must be comfortable working with Cricut machines and materials.
  • Travel up to 10%, including possible trips to Asia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Material Science, Business or a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in product development, testing, or manufacturing (internships or co-op experience accepted).
  • Ideal for taking the next step in career
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written SOPs and industry standards
  • Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with product lifecycle management tools a plus (e.g., Arena, Oracle, etc.)
  • Understanding of basic statistical analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Project management experience a plus
