Job Description

The Cricut’s Consumables portfolio is a key part of our overall product ecosystem, empowering our members to create a variety of projects through broad material options spanning vinyl, iron on, infusible ink, wood, metal and much more.

 

We are looking for a world-class Director of Consumables Quality to lead the organization responsible for all aspects of quality specification, verification, and qualification for the Circuit’s consumables portfolio globally. This is a hands-on technical leadership position for a high growth and diversified product portfolio. The ideal candidate must have proven experience leading quality for a wide range of synthetic and natural materials and guiding a team of quality engineers through the full product development cycle. This role requires exceptional cross-functional collaboration and is the interface between Operations, Product Management and Product Engineering both in US and Asia. The Director of Materials Quality is the leader who ensures quality issues are driven to closure with consensus amongst project teams, or escalated as necessary to key stakeholders.

 

Key Qualifications/Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage highly motivated and technical quality engineering teams.
  • Experience in materials product development, qualification, and manufacturing technologies
  • Experience in scientific testing as well as user level testing.
  • Track record of achieving significant results on complex projects in a fast-changing environment.
  • Proven leadership in driving solutions to challenges
  • Experience managing globally distributed teams
  • Capability to plan failure analysis and come up with reliability and quality improvement plans.
  • Must possess a very solid understanding of materials testing methodologies, ASTM/ISO standards and other international standards.
  • In-depth engineering background and consistent track record working on materials research, development, and qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and lead high quality teams.
  • Experience growing supplier testing capabilities and internal failure analysis

Qualifications

Leadership

  • Lead quality team to promote product/process/people quality.
  • Deliver effective coaching to team members, you are a part of a progressive and energetic team that contributes directly to the growth of the business.
  • Lead team for internal and external product quality issue handling, including SCAR.
  • Initiate, implement, maintain, and enhance proactive quality improvement activities to continuously improve product & manufacturing quality.
  • Lead, conduct, and support the external and internal Audit.
  • Grow team ability to translate test results to real world implications and risk assessment.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years working experience in Engineering/Quality with 5+ years Managerial experience in materials development and quality control.
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams
  • Must possess a very solid understanding of materials testing methodologies, ASTM/ISO standards and other international standards.
  • Experiences in polyurethane, vinyl, pigments, dyes, adhesive systems, paper and textile substrates.
  • Experience with manufacturing process and methods used in the manufacturing of PVC, PP, PU, PET, pigmented systems, mixing, coating, and printing.
  • Hands-on experience in lab analysis of coatings, inks, adhesives, and systems, as well as manufacturing pilot and scale up trials in multiple operational sites.
  • Experience working in a test lab with strong knowledge of good laboratory practices.
  • Knowledge and experience in data processing, statistical analysis, and modeling tools.
  • Position requires excellent problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative, and energy.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal, written and executive presentations.
  • Experience growing and developing contract manufacturers capability, processes, and testing.
