Job Description

Cricut has an immediate opportunity for an experienced, seasoned, high caliber Data QA Engineer responsible for review, analyze, scrutinize the data that is generated by Cricut production applications. You will be working alongside with other QA engineers, API and Data engineering teams for testing the quality and assuring the accuracy of the data behind those applications. Successful candidate is expected to have an inquisitive mind to dig through data, ask questions, looking for anomalies, and being able to comprehend big picture scenarios. As data flows from one system to another, to another, and yet another; you will need to be able to document processes and data flows, develop test cases to perform to ensure data quality. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Building data analysis strategy to understand, design and build data models to fit product requirements for existing and new products. 

  • Construct workflows and charts of dataflows 

  • Recommend controls by identifying problems. 

  • Analyzes data for trends, insights, accuracy. 

  • Preparing and publishing test results to stakeholders 

  • Maintain user confidence and protect operations by ensuring data accuracy of each software release. 

  • Investigate data integrity concerns. 

  • Conduct insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues. 

  • Write SQL queries and do data analysis for the measurement of processes and outcomes. 

  • Maintain data governance, data mining, data warehousing, data modeling and analytics. 

Preferred skills: 

  • Any business analyst, report writing/analysis, Spotfire, Tableau or other BI experience.  

  • Any data systems, data system configuration, Pentaho, or other IS experience.  

  • Any Redshift, RDS, Aurora, S3, Lambda, or other AWS experience  

  • Manual data analysis using Excel or other spreadsheet tools. 

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent. 

  • 5+ years' experience as a Data QA. 

  • Strong SQL skills with 3+ years of hands-on experience in writing complex SQL queries 

  • Expert level knowledge in database design, and database security 

  • Advanced level of knowledge and experience in RDBMS (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, AWS RDS), NoSQL (MongoDB, Dynamo), Graph (Neo4j) 

  • Experience in testing Web based and Mobile applications. 

  • Ability to understand (but not necessarily write) software code. 

  • Experience in constructing workflows and charts of dataflows. 

  • Experience in investigating data integrity and data accuracy concerns 

  • Strong fundamentals in QA methodologies and procedures. 

  • Must possess a very solid understanding of materials testing methodologies. 

  • Expert level knowledge and hands-on experience creating thorough test plans and test case definitions. 

  • Extremely organized with an appreciation of generating good documentation
