Job Description

SUMMARY 

 

Cricut is looking for a PR Manager who will be a strong addition to our Marketing and Communications team. As PR Manager for Cricut, you will support our external agency team and be in charge of growing Cricut’s national media program through organic and paid opportunities. Our team is focused on driving awareness and you will be a big part of accelerating that in 2021 (and beyond). You will collaborate alongside all areas of Cricut Corporate Marketing and work cross-functionally to achieve Cricut’s goals. The right person for this role should have: 

 

  • Experience in strategic media relations, specifically with a clear history of success working with national lifestyle media 

  • A clear understanding of PR metrics and what makes a valuable PR story  

  • A background in producing sophisticated PR reports  

  • Experience with press relations and events (national, regional and local media examples appreciated)  

  • Strong relationship building skills  

  • A background in journalism or communications preferred  

  • Experience in managing PR budgets at multiple levels  

  • A deep understanding of social media platforms and how PR impacts social media  

  • History of influencer marketing experience also preferred  

 

As Cricut’s PR Manager, you must have a “go-getter” attitude and be willing to dive in to a variety of topics and execute with maximum impact. You must have a passion for the DIY industry and an appetite to learn and be creative. You will also have the opportunity to travel for this role. If you are someone that loves a fast-paced, passionate and creative environment, this would be a great role for you.  

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

  • Develop strategic plans for seasonal tentpole moments (focus on lifestyle media) 

  • Drive our external agency team in tracking and reporting story coverage through reports  

  • Write first drafts of communication documents: press releases/news-focused blog posts 

  • Partner with our events team on planning and execution of future press events  

  • Manage our paid media program and report on results  

  • Research industry trends and media opportunities and present to marketing team  

  • Collaborate with Cricut’s influencer team on discovery and new potential partnerships  

  • Collaborate closely with other Cricut departments including Influencer, Creative, Social, Direct-to-Consumer, Channel Marketing and Sales 

  • Assist with budget tracking and planning alongside your manager  

  • Support our international team on global PR strategies  

  • Support brand partnerships for PR storytelling (where applicable)  

Qualifications

  • College degree – major in communications, journalism, public relations or business  

  • Excellent writing skills (please provide examples)  

  • 5-7 years of experience in an agency or brand working with press   

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and other basic computer applications 

  • Experience with social media platforms including Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.  

  • Proficient in WordPress or other online blog platforms (preferred)  

  • Willingness to travel 1-2x per quarter  

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines  

  • Proven track record of positivity in a work environment  

  • Strong relationship-building skills 

BONUS 

  • Adobe Photoshop knowledge  

  • Examples of media stories you’ve driven in the past year  

  • Understanding of analytics tools (i.e., Google Analytics)
