Job Description

Cricut is looking for a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer.  This position reports to the Senior Director, Product Safety & Regulatory Compliance. 

  • Communicate and correspond with regulatory agencies and consultants to secure and maintain global regulatory certifications related to products manufactured by Cricut, Inc. 

  • Initiate and handle required procedures with internal company staff and external regulatory agencies and consultants to revise or supplement all applicable regulatory certifications, as needed. 

  • Work with product management, marketing, engineering, legal, technical-writing and operations staff to identify applicable product safety and regulatory requirements for all products during New Product Development (NPD) cycle; develop, and drive efforts/projects to ensure completion of identified requirements for on-time product launches.  

  • Ensure continual company adherence to company Product Safety Objectives and Policies. 

  • Work cross-functionally with all internal teams, e.g., engineering, product management, marketing, customer service, marketing, legal, field etc…. to monitor product safety concerns and serve as conduit to report any concerns to the company’s Product Safety Council. 

  • Assist/Support Engineering & Quality/Lab Staff in development and maintenance of laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) as required for possible on-site product regulatory certification testing and Design Verification Testing (DVT); 

  • Support Quality/lab staff in driving preventive maintenance and calibration procedures for lab equipment, as needed per regulatory requirements. 

  • Work with internal, responsible Cricut staff and contract manufacturer staff to maintain quality procedures and resolve quality issues, as they affect regulatory compliance and safety of equipment/products manufactured by Cricut, Inc. in locations around the globe. 

  • Interface with and provide assistance to Cricut Member Care (customer support) staff as it relates to product Safety and Regulatory compliance issues. 

  • Participate in relevant industry standards/code development organizations and meetings to ensure up-to-date knowledge of all issues which affect products manufactured by Cricut, Inc. 

  • Support company efforts towards developing Corporate Social Responsibility Program related product sustainability. 

  • Travel, as necessary, using available means such as automobile or airlines, to continually ensure that all above responsibilities are being consistently completed.  Position could require up to 15% travel, which could include nights and weekends. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or better in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.  Similar degree in other disciplines with demonstrable knowledge or experience applicable to consumer products will be considered. 

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in the field of global product regulatory compliance 

  • working knowledge of general laboratory equipment (e.g., electrical, combustion, temperature, hydraulic, environmental), and safety.  

  • Strong knowledge of global regulatory requirements and procedures related to consumer or similar equipment and appliances (e.g., UL, CSA, IEC, AS/NZS, EPA). 

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills (multi-lingual skills are a definite plus). 

  • Solid administrative and organizational skills, with expertise in Microsoft Office and other similar application packages. 

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation to work outside normal business hours to complete responsibilities and correspond/communicate with staff around the globe and in different time-zones.
