Job Description

In this position you will work with the engineering team to develop new products and improve existing ones by participating in the design, build, debug and testing processes. Traits of the Engineering Technician include: results oriented and creative; proactive, strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills; with entrepreneurial leanings. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team oriented, cross-functional and highly dynamic environment, meeting customer commitments and program deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to research and specify components in the product development and prototyping phase
  • Build and test electro-mechanical prototypes from concept to production representative samples
  • Build up circuit boards
  • Must be competent in circuit troubleshooting and use of the associated tools (e.g. O-Scope, Volt/Amp meter, etc.)
  • Perform functional and reliability testing
  • Analyze and report on test results
  • Analyze customer returns to establish the root cause of failure  and recommend solutions and follow up with Customer Service, Engineering and Manufacturing to implement product improvements
  • Troubleshoot electronic and electro-mechanical devices and work with engineering to resolve product issues

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a background or education in electronics with a good mechanical aptitude
  • 2+ years technical/engineering training, associates degree or equivalent training, with an emphasis in electronic systems
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics
  • Proficient at soldering surface mount components
  • Competent in electronic circuit analysis and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable and capable in using general shop tools
  • Capable of preparing bread board circuit prototypes
  • Adept in the use of Excel, Powerpoint and Word

Desired Skills

  • Competent in the use of Solidworks and/or Pro-E solid modeling software is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems
