Snr Product Data Engineer
- Full-time
- Compensation: AUD140000 - AUD155000 - yearly
Company Description
When ESG reporting is done well, it changes more than a dashboard. It cuts carbon, protects fragile ecosystems, and forces real accountability for how people are treated in global supply chains. It is the difference between “we hope we’re doing the right thing” and “we know where the harm is, and we’re doing something about it.”
Regulators, investors, employees and communities are all asking the same questions:
Are you funding forced labour? Are your assets driving deforestation? Do your suppliers align with the climate and human rights commitments you’ve made publicly?
Most companies want to answer “no” with confidence. The problem is that their data is scattered across ERPs, procurement tools, PDFs and manual reports, while ESG regulations tighten every year. Traditional tools were never built to trace risk through ten tiers of suppliers, across modern slavery, emissions and biodiversity.
Fair Supply exists to close that gap.
Job Description
FairSupply have built an ESG risk and reporting platform that gives companies a defensible, data-driven view of what’s happening across their supply chains. Modern slavery, carbon emissions, biodiversity impact, global trade exposure – we make the hidden parts visible so procurement, sustainability and finance teams can act with confidence, not guesswork.
You’re not just helping companies tick compliance boxes. You’re helping them remove forced labour from value chains, decarbonise at scale, and reduce damage to nature – using serious data, product and AI to do it.
hat’s where you come in.
This is a Senior Product Data Engineer role where you'll own complex data models and infrastructure, bridge data science with product engineering, and work with some of the most interesting data problems in tech with the opportunity to put cutting edge solutions applications into production with real use cases. You’ll help us design and evolve a data architecture that combines proprietary data models with layers of high volume structured and unstructured data.
The learning curve is real. You'll need to get smart on graph databases, agentic AI, and proprietary data models fast. But here's the payoff: you'll become an expert in emerging tech that's reshaping how companies understand their operations.
Qualifications
What you'll do
Build with bleeding-edge AI: You'll work with LangGraph, langchain, and other agentic frameworks to create AI-powered functionality that actually solves real problems.
Master complex data architectures: Think Neo4j graph databases, custom data models, and multi-layered systems that handle massive volumes of unstructured ESG data.
Bridge the gap between data insight and product experience: You'll translate between data scientists who think in models and product engineers who think in features.
Work on a full-stack product: Work with modern full stack infrastructure using NextJS, React, GraphQL and other forward thinking frameworks.
Ship to production: Your code will power real systems that help companies make confident decisions about their supply chains. Build data-heavy, real-time products that customers depend on.
Level up the team: Share knowledge, lead by example, and help evolve how we work as we scale.
You'll love this if you…
Know data engineering inside out – You've built and shipped ML pipelines and complex data systems to production
Thrive with emerging tech – Graph databases, agentic AI, and bleeding-edge tooling excite you instead of intimidating you
Think in systems – You understand how data flows through applications and can optimize for performance at scale
Communicate clearly – You can explain complex technical concepts to designers and product people
Have startup experience – You've worked in environments where you had to figure things out, not just follow documentation
Use AI as a tool – You already integrate AI into your development workflow and see it as a productivity multiplier
Bonus points if you've worked with Neo4j, Next.js/React, or AWS SageMaker.
Additional Information
What working here feels like
You'll join a team that's figured out something rare – they know how to be deeply ambitious about the work while staying genuinely kind to each other. People here want to do great work, but egos don't run the show. When someone hits a rough patch, colleagues show up to help instead of disappearing after offering vague support.
You get real autonomy to make decisions and own your work. No micromanaging, no endless approval chains. Leadership keeps everyone in the loop about what's happening, both the good news and the challenging stuff.
The work matters in a measurable and tangible way. We're helping companies tackle modern slavery, emissions, and biodiversity destruction. It's energising to wake up knowing your efforts are making a real difference in the world.
We're not perfect. We're still building and figuring things out as we go. But we've got clear focus, customers who genuinely love what we've built, and the kind of momentum that makes you excited about what's possible. Plus, people here know how to celebrate wins together and laugh when things get messy, which they inevitably do.
