Opportunity at a Glance
Collaborating with academic partners, faculty, and staff, the Senior Specialist- Online NCLEX Readiness provides strategies and academic reinforcement to students throughout their academic program and as they prepare for success with the NCLEX-RN exam. Working with students individually and in small groups, this role assesses learning styles, identifies strengths, and discovers opportunities for academic development. Additionally, it will create and implement personalized remediation plans for our students as they prepare for academic and professional success. Finally, they may at times assume the responsibility of the faculty role in the virtual lab settings.

Responsibilities

  • Promote academic success, through providing engagement and coaching that prepares the student for practice and inspires lifelong learning.
  • Demonstrates current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of competencies tested by the NCLEX-RN as well as current practice experience in nursing practice to provide academic support.
  • Assists in the creation of individualized Next Generation NCLEX study plans, activities, and workshops.
  • Demonstrates effective behaviors and accountability in meeting the following standards of service excellence to students, fellow team members, and external agencies: Friendliness and courtesy, professional environment, effective communication, and first-class service.
  • Communicates, collaborates, and documents students' academic progress toward achievement of student, course, and program learning outcomes to academic leadership.
  • Provides virtual availability that meets the BSNOL student needs (i.e. evenings or weekends).
  • Provides advising, mentoring, tutoring, and guidance to navigate the online learning environment.
  • Coordinates and provides lab experiences to ensure that students have the opportunity to meet or exceed course objectives. Serving as faculty at times in the virtual lab setting. Provides individual oversight to students during practice and/or remediation of technical nursing skills as required by course objectives.
  • Participates and manages outreach to students identified as at-risk (referrals, reinstatements, repeaters), reporting to leadership metrics for implementation of strategies for success (i.e. retention meeting).
  • Credentialed to teach and assess learning in the virtual classroom.
  • Limited instruction (Lecture/Lab/Clinical/Simulation) every session not to exceed 50% of FTE.
  • Evaluates skills validations (assessing competency).
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Nursing Required
  • 5+ years As a Registered Nurse in a clinical practice setting Required and
  • 2+ years Experience in an academic environment supporting classroom instruction or specialized tutoring support role Required and
  • 1+ year Experience in online teaching/tutoring/coaching of prelicensure nursing program Preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to communicate via telephone, computer, and virtually (in-person).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Must be a team player, willing to share and exchange.
  • Maintenance of a current, unencumbered IL RN license Required and
  • Maintenance of a current unencumbered compact RN license Required and
  • BLS CPR Required and
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) Certification Preferred

Additional Information

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $53,521.00 and $96,736.75. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
