Job Description

Screening questions:
  • Do you have at least 2 years practice experience? (desirable)
  • Are you AAT Level 4 qualified? (essential)
  • Are you studying for ACCA or ACCA qualified? (desirable)
  • Are you experienced in preparation of year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies?
  • Are you experienced in VAT reconciliations & VAT returns?

Due to impressive growth, our client, a well established firm of accountants is looking to appoint a Part Qualified candidate with at least 2 year’s experience accountancy experience, ideally within a practice environment, although practice experience is desirable, not essential.
You will be either fully AAT qualified to Level 4, or studying for ACCA. You will be confident with accounts preparation for a variety of clients from sole traders to limited companies with knowledge of tax calculations as well as bookkeeping and VAT Returns. You will be computer literate and able to work well in a team, have excellent communication skills and be able to work with minimal supervision. We would also consider applications from QBE candidates who have recent experience of working in a Practice environment.

Your duties will include:
  • Advanced bookkeeping
  • Preparation of year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Preparation of VAT returns
  • Preparation of corporation tax returns
  • Bank reconciliations
  • PAYE and VAT reconciliations
  • Fixed asset registers and depreciation
  • Accruals and prepayments
  • Submitting VAT returns to HMRC
  • Year-end journals
  • Payroll
  • Liaising with senior management on workload and upcoming deadlines

Anyone applying for the role must have previous accounts experience including:
  • Minimum of 24 months at a firm of accountants (desirable)
  • Relevant qualification such as AAT, Part Qualified ACCA (or QBE)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines
  • Professional and well presented

In return you can expect:

Salary £18k – £30k depending on level of experience
Hours 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, although hours may vary in line with business need
