Job Description
Transportation and Utilities is hiring an Asset Information Technician. This position assists the Project Manager – Operations Programs under the direction of the Director - Operations Programs in supporting the County's rural addressing program, conducting field data collection, collecting asset information, maintaining and creating documentation, and performing various Geographic Information System (GIS) tasks.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Perform field work collecting and processing GPS data.
- Manage and coordinate the County’s rural addressing program.
- Update and maintain Metadata in spatial databases.
- Download data and create/update asset layers.
- Converting, importing and exporting data in and out of GIS systems.
- Ongoing maintenance / creation of GIS datasets for Transportation & Utilities Infrastructure.
- Run queries and analyze data.
- Provide asset data information to Transportation & Utilities staff and managers.
- Respond to public inquiries related to the technical projects area.
- Build and print maps using ArcGIS Pro.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Degree or diploma in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field utilizing GIS technology.
- Equivalent experience in a professional setting utilizing GIS technology, conducting spatial data collection, or coordinating addressing systems will also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated experience with ESRI GIS Systems (ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to conduct field work in inclement weather, walking on uneven surfaces, and walk extended distances
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
- Familiarity with CAD software and scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript is an asset.
- Prior knowledge of municipal public works programs and procedures is an asset

Work Schedule:
This position works Monday to Friday from 8am to 4:30pm for 40 hours per week.
Hourly Pay: $45.44 to $53.46
