Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Communications and Marketing Specialist will be in charge of managing the development and execution of marketing campaigns and communications.  Under the direction of the Vice President of Communications and Membership, the incumbent will beneficially promote CSWE’s brand, product and services. 

 

The Communications and Marketing Specialist will serve as the communications expert working with CSWE divisions to create and distribute engaging content, manage digital platforms and build strong relationships with stakeholders.  The incumbent will handle various administrative, communications, and marketing tasks and projects and will help implement communications strategies and plans.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                

  • Under the direction of the VP of Communications and Membership, contribute to the generation of the annualstrategic communications plans for the association; coordinate with internal divisions/departments and externalpartners for effective implementation and execution.
  • Creates and executes digital marketing campaigns across email, website, and social media, to include targeted emails, weekly and monthly newsletters, website updates, and content distribution among social and community platforms.
  • Responsible for managing the communications calendar; works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive accuracy for assigned projects.
  • Assists division head with communication correspondence both internally and externally; provides guidance to executive leadership to provide concise messaging.
  • Serves as a representative for the communications team at external events and conferences.
  • Provides support to the VP of Communications and Membership for crisis communications, including both internal and external messaging.
  • Curates and generates content for platforms, whether sourcing externally, copywriting or development of visual media; this would include email content, infographics, image libraries, and news items.
  • Manages content partnership and revenue stream with newsletter and career center partners.
  • Recommends and assist with the implementation of processes and tools to optimize team productivity.
  • Monitors progress and outcomes of ongoing campaigns and communications projects, using editorial calendars and related project management platform tools.
  • Coordinates the production and distribution of videos, graphic elements, brochures, fact sheets, and logos.
  • Acts as the primary administrator for CSWE’s online community and email marketing platform.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

  • Bachelor’s  degree in Marketing, Communication, or a related field preferred; Bachelor’s degree in any field is required.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field with proven ability to execute effective communications initiatives is required.  
  • Experience with editorial calendars and/or project management tools is required.
  • Experience with best practices in nonprofit marketing concepts, practices, and procedures is required.
  • Familiarity and experience with style books is required; experience with APA is preferred.
  • Experience with digital media platforms such as: project management platforms, content management systems, customer relationship management systems, social media management platforms, digital asset management, marketing automation, digital community management or similar is required.   
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and verbal and written communications is required.
  • Excellent writing skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to managing multiple projects at once, maintaining timelines and meeting deadlines.
  • Graphic design skills are preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently.

Additional Information

The office is located in Alexandria, Virginia. CSWE is a hybrid work environment.

• The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience ($72,000-$77,000 annually).

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and bend, stoop, and carry materials.
