Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Visual Communications Specialist will be responsible for transforming CSWE content into visually engaging content that speaks to our membership.  Under the direction of the Vice President of Communications and Membership, the incumbent will visually promote CSWE’s brand, products, and services.

 

The Visual Communications Specialist is a talented, highly organized designer with a strong aptitude for creating high-quality visual media.  The incumbent will collaborate with CSWE divisions to create content that contains attractive visual designs across different platforms to include digital and print media.  The successful candidate willhelp complete administrative, communications, and marketing tasks and projects.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:                

  • Under the direction of the VP of Communications and Membership, contributes to the execution of the annualstrategic communications plans for the association.
  • Designs visually appealing graphics and manages photographic and video assets to create digital collateral for marketing campaigns across email, website, and social media.   This would include content for targeted emails, weekly and monthly newsletters, website updates, and content distributed among social and community platforms.
  • Assists with the coordination of the communications calendar and inbox to ensure that communications requests are handled accurately and on time; works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure comprehensive accuracy for assigned projects.
  • Maintains the project management system and helps ensure all communications projects stay on schedule.
  • Maintains visual media assets, including branding and logos; stock, in-house, and contracted photography; publication, PowerPoint, and conference templates; sourced and produced video content; font libraries; and visual style guides.
  • Creates social media posts that drive engagement to CSWE website.
  • Assists with the management of all external design and multimedia partner relationships to include external designers, photographers, and videographers.
  • Serves as a representative for the communications team at external events and conferences.
  • Recommends and assists with the implementation of processes and tools to optimize team productivity.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Graphic Design, Marketing or a related field is preferred; Bachelor’s degree in any field is required.
  •  One to Three (1-3) years of experience in graphic design with the proven ability to see projects through to completion is required.
  • Experience or significant training in best practices on design, branding, and project management is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere, and with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at once, maintain timelines and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and written communications is required.
  • Experience with web content management systems and social media management systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with editorial stylebooks is preferred.
  • Experience with digital photography and/or videography is preferred.

Additional Information

The office is located in Alexandria, Virginia. CSWE is a hybrid work environment.

COMPENSATION
• The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience ($55,000-$65,000 annually).

ADA SPECIFICATIONS
This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and bend, stoop, and carry materials.
