Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Centers and Volunteer Specialist supports the administrative management of CSWE centers and volunteers in the CSWE Division of Education. The position coordinates activities and programming related to CSWE’s centers, including meetings coordination and programming as needed. The position supports Division of Education volunteers, including recruitment, engagement, and recognition. The Centers and Volunteer Specialist communicates with advisory boards, members, and social work programs regarding center initiatives, volunteer opportunities, and other initiatives. The incumbent completes website updates and prepares correspondence and reports related to center and volunteer operations. 

The position works closely with the Director of Initiatives and Professional Development and other CSWE staff in coordination of volunteers and Center programming that supports CSWE members and elevates social work education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include coordination of professional development and initiatives, including:

 

  • Handle administrative coordination of the CSWE centers and Division of Education volunteers.
  • Maintain database of active volunteers, preparing reports based on volunteer representation and other metrics.
  • Coordinate Center-related expense reimbursement, as applicable.
  • Work with Director of Initiatives and Professional Development in administering planning, implementation, and evaluation of Center-related initiatives and programming, including, preparing reports, schedules, and communications for a variety of events.
  • Manage and monitor inquiries about Division of Education volunteer opportunities.
  • Verifies volunteer eligibility status and completion of volunteer records, including recognition, recruitment, and ongoing engagement.
  • Administer communication and logistics with speakers, CSWE members, and other participants, as directed.
  • Respond to public and membership inquiries related to Center initiatives and programming.
  • Updated CSWE website and other platforms related to the Division of Education.
  • General administrative duties, including word processing, emails, filing, organizing.
  • Serve as staff liaison for CSWE commissions and/or councils.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in related field (MSW strongly preferred) and work experience preferably in a national membership association and/or higher education or social work.
  • Knowledge or experience in education association, higher education, or social work preferred.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Demonstrates skill in understanding of cultural differences.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrates a commitment to antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse volunteers and volunteer groups
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple project simultaneously
  • Ability to travel 1-3 times per year
  • Experience with certification or continuing education programs desirable.

This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. May be required to use computer screen for extensive periods of time. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to use a computer,telephone and standard office equipment, move up to 25 lbs.; move articles used in program activities. Extended working hours and occasional travel within the United States may be necessary as well.
