Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Education Support Specialist supports the administrative management of education meetings and programs in the CSWE Division of Education.  The position coordinates educational activities related to CSWE’s Annual Program Meeting (APM) and other education meetings and programs, including educational sessions, awards and proposal processes, and other duties aligned with ensuring quality education meetings and programming sponsored within the Division of Education. 

The position works closely with the Director of Initiatives and Professional Development, the Education Program Coordinator, and other CSWE staff in the planning and implementation of education meetings and programming that support CSWE members and elevate social work education.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include coordination of education meetings and programming:

  • Handle administrative management of APM proposal submission, review, and acceptance processes, including electronic proposal system.
  • Assist with education-related awards, including call, reviews, and acceptances.
  • Work with Division of Education team in administering planning, implementation, and evaluation of education meetings and programming; preparing reports, schedules, and communications for a variety of events.
  • Assist with recruitment, selection, and assignment of appropriate proposal reviewers.
  • Respond to public and membership inquiries related to education meetings and programs.
  • General administrative duties, including word processing, emails, filing, organizing.
  • Administer communication and logistics with speakers, CSWE members, and other participants.
  • Serve as staff liaison for CSWE commissions and/or councils.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum four-year college degree preferred or equivalent work experience preferably in a national membership association and/or higher education or social work.
  • Experience required: Minimum 2 years’ experience providing administrative support and/or event coordination for educational programs and/or meeting planning, database management, and volunteer management.
  • Ability to travel 1-3 times per year.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to antiracism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of initiative and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Experience with professional conferences is highly desirable.

Additional Information

The office is located in Alexandria, Virginia. CSWE is a hybrid work environment.

This position is primarily sedentary and is performed in an office setting. The physical demands of this position are limited to the ability to lift up to 15 lbs., bend, stoop, and carry articles used in program activities. The position requires the ability to speak audibly and listen actively; use computers, telephones, and other office equipment, and travel out of town periodically, and work outside of the organization’s core business hours as necessary.
