Job Description
The Maintenance Specialist will be responsible for maintaining all production equipment, obtaining quotes, purchasing and submitting purchase orders for parts and supplies with vendors, and maintaining inventory of parts and supplies while fostering positive vendor relationships. Additionally, it is the specialist’s responsibility to make sure all equipment at the Merritt Island facility is always fully operational.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, develop, and implement facility programs/functions; ensure safety plans are included in the plans; responsible for developing and maintaining record-keeping systems for these programs; analyze results and make recommendations; examples include: preventative maintenance, pest management, custodial equipment repair and preventative maintenance, and custodial scheduling
- Maintain inventory records; place and manage orders for parts and supplies.
- Inspect shipments for missing items and damages; store parts in designated areas.
- Establish, implement, and communicate various procedures for your assigned area (preventative maintenance procedures, QA/QC procedures, testing, etc.)
- Meet with vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers to discuss products and equipment; recommend the purchase of product lines and equipment consistent with established procedures and processes; examples include preventative maintenance products, parts and supplies and custodial equipment and supplies.
- Evaluate proposed changes/modifications to new and existing program/system design; provide critical analysis of data; approve and implement changes as appropriate
- Participate and make suggestions toward the development of the facility in support of the overall strategic plans
- Explore, identify and participate in initiatives, processes and procedures to improve operational efficiencies while assuring quality; analyze and approve improvement initiatives; make sure implementation is initiated
- Maintains safe working conditions in his/her area. Continually works on safety awareness with associates. Enforces safety rules.
- Continually works on process improvement and department efficiency. This includes recommendations to improve: production methods, equipment performance, overall work quality, working conditions, and use of equipment.

Knowledge, Education and or Experience required:
- 5+ years in a manufacturing/Industrial environment with at least 1 year being in CNC machine repair and 1 year being in composites spray equipment repair.
- An equivalent combination of education/trade schooling, certifications may be used for a portion of the experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, machine repair and maintenance, plant layout, safety, painting and janitorial experience.
- Strong knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance, and a fundamental understanding of applicable governmental regulations.
- Solid understanding of buildings, grounds and security protocols.
- Ability to establish and maintain a work environment/climate of mutual respect, safety and cleanliness.
- Able to troubleshoot problems and offer solutions.
- Good verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and productively to all levels of personnel in the plant.
- Ability to work as a team member toward overall company objectives.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employee information. This includes, but is not limited to: performance, illness, investigations and personal information.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.
- Basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
- Ability to manipulate data in Excel and create charts and simple formulas
- Maintain a clean driving record and capable of qualifying for inclusion on our corporate insurance plan.
- Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.
- Must be able to work outside exposed to all weather conditions.
- Must be able to sit, stand and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to wear proper safety equipment when necessary.
- Must be able to use and maintain a variety of hand tools including screw gun, drill, saw, etc.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
- This position requires 25% travel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, normal office environment or factory environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves and protective garments.
